WWII Engine maintenance cart close ups/drawings
Posted by Quagmyre on Thursday, October 19, 2006 10:10 PM
I'm building a B-25 maintenance diorama, and scratch building a few of the "accessories". I'm looking for close ups or drawings of the pully system on these carts that carried replaced engines. Forgot what they were actually called, but I can't figure out from the pics below what the pullys looked like close up as I'm struggling to make sense of the chains, etc. I'm attempting to scratchbuid the first one by the way. Any information leading to more detail would help.

That is just a chain hoist at the top of the engine hoist.  Go look at one in a hard ware store or a catalog or a model railroading catalog as O scale is 1/48.  I think it has a hand winch at the bottom to change the height.

For a better color shot of  an engine hoist, go to www.ww2incolor.com.  Go to US Air Force, click on gallery 21, and click on the B-17 in the upper right corner, photo number 183.  This is a good place for color photos of nearly anything from WW2.  Edit: sorry I didn't check the photo as it is the same one.
