Need photo of Bf109D-1 Werner Molders Spanish Civil War
Posted by espins1 on Sunday, November 5, 2006 1:02 PM

Does anyone have any reference photos of Werner Molders Bf109D-1 number 6 79, with the Mickey Mouse emblem and "Luchs" painted in front of the cockpit on the cowling?  I have a Cutting Edge decal sheet that says to paint his aircraft in RLM62 on the upper surfaces and sides, with RLM65 on the undersides.

I wanted to do a scheme with a splinter patter of RLM62/RLM65 and while doing my research found that the boxart on an Academy kit with the exact same markings (Werner Molders, Micky Mouse 6 79, Luchs on the cowl) shows a spinter pattern.

Can anyone shed any light in this for me?  Smile [:)]

I've posted some images showing Mölders' Bf 109D-1 on my reference forum.

You  can check 'em out HERE...

I'm not one for using artist's impressions as reference, but here's a nice profile the 109 in question:
