WWI Aircraft
Posted by zipmeister on Monday, February 19, 2007 10:22 AM

Anyone know of any web sites for WWI aircraft? Having a hard time finding good picks. Mainly Nieuports and Sopwiths. I need to see cockpits and overall so I can see how they are rigged. I wanted to try the web first but if I have to I will buy A Squadron book as last resort. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm thinking your best bet might just be the web, especially if you do a search for the specific type of aircraft you are looking for. I found an amazing site with tons of detailed pics of an unrestored D.VII, covering every part of the aircraft, to help me with my current build, and they've proved to be an invaluable reference (and they were free, too).

Thanks ruddratt. I've been searching all weekend for some descent picks of a Nieuport with no luck. At lunch at work I gave it another go and came up with a ton of picks! I just really not that good at searching the web.Blush [:I]

Thanks again

My pleasure, Zip! I'm glad you found the pics you were looking for. Be sure to post some pics of your build when you can. I'll be keeping a lookout for 'em. Those WWI birds are awesome and we just don't see enough of 'em here.
