Squadron/Signal pub I can't locate....
Posted by namrednef on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 3:45 PM

.....even from The Squadron!

About 20 tears ago I bought a special S/S book called "Navy Air Colors"....it wasn't a part of the 'In Action' series, but a thicker, more costly volumn.

The book as the title suggests covered paint schemes from 1918-1945 (can't recall the years, but these are close) and the cover featured two SB2U's in yellow wings circling above a Yorktown class CV.

Can't find it with a search at S/S.

Does anyone have an idea of a site where I might have some luck finding a new or used copy?

 Thanks

You're welcome.  You'd be surprised at how many hard to find books you can find new or used on Amazon.com.  But the out of print books can get a bit pricey, but sometimes that's the price you gotta pay to get another gem in your reference library.  Smile [:)]

Oh....and it's a gem, believe me! I bought kits of planes I never knew about based upon the great photos and profiles in there.

Also, I think on the inside back page there's a photo of an early helo at some testing facility, but in the background there are a couple of what appear to be Helldivers with floats on! This may be common knowledge now, I haven't researched.....but 20 years ago it was cool.

So I built a float version of a Buffalo figuring....."Hey!, it might've happened!"

 Thanks again.
