Future vehicle reference book help request
Posted by wasjr on Sunday, February 3, 2008 9:21 PM

I was working on a futuristic self contained and propelled trailer type model.

When I went to get out the paperback that described vehile to work on it again . Looks like wife cleaned up and took book to thirft store. Need help please, I have forgotten title (I have this problem remembering thinks such as titles). The book was a future story about the automotive based civilization that lived in self propelled modularl cities on the interstate and never stopped moving. Think communities names were Howardjohnson, Redroofs and several others.  Does anyone know title, have copy or know who where I could contact to that would have info to help me locate and help getting a replacment copy

Thanks

It sounds a lot like the short story "The Roads Must Roll" by Robert A Heinlein.  I don't think the communities had those names though...

Thank you for the info.

The paperback I had was about an inch thick. i do not remember it being a collection of short stories  Something about they built their own rods that drove and left the moving vans do drive around in. If the characters quit moving ( wrecked their cars or broke down)  they could not deal with it and would have a breakdown
