Fun Photo Shoot! (And Model)
Posted by Hodakamax on Thursday, July 13, 2017 7:23 AM

Not my normal model. A 21'' 1/72 Space Shuttle Orbiter. The plan was for an extensive W.I.P. photo coverage. Early on I painted up a little man astronout and began to place him in different scenes to show scale and to entertain me even more. The 8'' tail made the underneath shot and contruction a bit different than usual. During final detailing of the bottom side the model was on two one gallon paint cans to clear the tail and foam blocks for the underneath photography. The model can be displayed in several configurations with cargo bay doors open or closed or just one door open which I chose. Gear up hanging was one idea but it has a really bad seam on the bottom in a tile area that would be tough to fix. Also cargo doors would be closed not showing the really cool ESA Spacelab and telescope. Gear down, one door open, the way to go. I still wanted to shoot it with doors open and closed for the final pictures. There's still photo possibilities but here's a few twists. What fun! More on the Space forum.
