Seeking a round base for a 1/32 Corsair
Posted by TheMidnightModeler on Sunday, April 7, 2019 10:48 PM

I'm looking for a round finished wooden base to display a 1/32 Corsair on. I'm planning on creating a simple diorama on it, depicting a Pacific airstrip. I've looked everywhere online, but can only find square/rectangle bases, or round bases that are too small for 1/32.

I've also seen some unfinished ones, but I'm on a bit of a deadline, so I'd prefer to skip that step.

Anyone have any tips on where I can find one?

Either shellac or lacquer can make a quick finish for those unfinished bases from Michaels or HL.

Here is the drill down in the Hobby Lobby Store. I found a 10" by 3mm round plywood circle for $3.99 as well as other options. They also have a large pine wood circle measuring 17 3/4" by 1".

Another suggestion would be looking at a round butcher block cutting board (?)

Also, in some cases, reversing an oval picture frame will work.
