Tojo

Good to know about the F14.  I also remember you posting pics of the F16 awhile back.  If I remember right it had Indianapolis markings?  Beautiful plane.  I've had the MiG for several months and in no real hurry to start.  Ive been reading about its landing gear struts are weak and many modelers have had problems getting it to stand.  We'll see when I get there.

Hope you are enjoying the holiday.  Stay safe.

You ain't kidding about the fiddly parts.  Before assembly I always make a game plan on what goes on before fuselage painting, what parts are easiest to paint then attach, and what parts are likely to to get whacked off during construction like pitot tubes.  Those always go on last.

All 1/48 scale

WIP

Tamiya Spitfire MK1, Tamiya F16 block 50

stash

Hasegawa F15E Strike Eagle, AMK MiG 31, Tamiya Corsair, Tamiya F14D, Eduard F6F-5 Hellcat, and GWH Devastator.

Heh...you know what else is funny?  I just got the 1/32 scale Tamiya Spitfire Mark XVIe a week or two ago.  Probably gonna be a while before I start building it though, all of the "fiddly bits" on the F-16CJ are in work now and its amazing how much time gets gobbled up by those little details.

Well that was a pleasant Christmas surprise.  I just purchased the exhaust.  Many thanks.  Funny you mentioned the F14A Tomcat.  Just last night I got the D version.  I have a customer that flew the Black Lions squadron 213 and I think I'll build it for him.

Cheers to you,

Paul

Found this one while I was looking around on the Aires site this morning, and an Ebay seller I use a lot has it.

Merry Christmas wpwar.  If you call them on the phone, they seem to be really efficient, and you'll be talking to an actual person who knows the hobby really well.  The number I called is 1-800-826-4922, and they're based in California.  The time I called them because I had damaged a part for the 1/48 F-14A that had just been released, the guy told me they didn't have spare sprues yet because the kit was so new, but that he'd start cannibalizing a complete kit to get me the sprue I needed.  Got it a week later.  If only all of the model manufacturers could be as easy to deal with as they are.

Thanks Eagle and I hope you are enjoying the holiday

I have emailed Tamiya USA in the past and found they deliver a good customer experience.  I mostly build their models and along with MRP use thier acrylic paints.  They delivered a part for me in the past but it took a couple months.  I'm not complaining because they didn't charge me.  This was before COVID so now maybe longer.  I'll try the eBay thing if I grow impatient.  Really no big deal Im working this project along with the 1/48 Tamiya F16 (I know you got the 1/32 one going).

Cheers

Calling Tamiya USA might be something to try, even though parts have taken a long time to get to you in the past.  I have always managed to get replacement sprues from them in about a week after calling them, but that may be different now.  I have also found Ebay to be a good source for the occasional parts sprue for my various projects, so you might check there as well.

Aftermarket exhaust for Tamiya Spitfire Mk.I

Not to bore everyone with the details but I have the Tamiya Spitfire kit #61119 with no exhaust in the kit.  I wasn't able to find much with an internet search.  Does anyone know if an aftermarket set exist for this kit?  It's 1/48 scale.  I can order the replacement parts from Tamiya but based on past experience they take forever to arrive.

Happy Holidays everyone.  Be safe
