Having a glue issue

Testor's has issued that glue in two different bottles.  One has a fine metal tube, and that's the better of the two (and comes with a piece of wire to clean it out when needed).  It looks like you have the plastic applicator.  That one just gunks up every chance it gets.  Get some fine wire and keep it handy.  Use it as long as you can stand, then replace it.  You can splurge the extra couple of bucks for the metal applicator (well worth it), or switch to a different product.  Owner of my FLHS swears by the similar stuff from Faller (says it has a slightly longer working time, but then gets a stronger bond).

Does the cap replace and positively lock in place?  I've had issues like that with the tip for CA getting build up then the cap not sealing and the whole thing becomes a solid block.

I haven't tried that particular glue, but I used the testors for clear parts in the same shapped bottle and haven't had issues.

I might suggest picking up a bottle of Tamiya thin liquid glue.  Pretty much all I use on plastic these days.

 

I have an older version of that glue in my kit.  Cap twists off to dispense the adhesive.  The bottle came with a strong, thin, wire attached to it you can use to unclog the opening when it invariably clogs.

As John said, though, Tamiya Extra Thin adhesive is great for all sorts of plastic, especially styrene.  They also have a 'quick setting'.  I'd get both and have on hand.  You hold the pieces together and dab the included brush to the seam and let capillary action spread the adhesive.  MUCH cleaner join.

        Whatever works for you. Now, some of their glue bottles like that, I have used the small applicator bottles with the Hollow needle applicator. Why? the bottle was so thin in the very corners the plastic failed and I would've had a mess on my hands. I just do it automatically now. When they work right they are great. No falling over or rolling off the bench!

thanks, but I'll look for that in the future but in the meantime i put the gloooo in a small bottle with a metal tip seems to work fine for now

TThis is interesting.

          I have used this type of Testors glue before, no problem. If you have nozzle problems then I would recommend what Fox suggested, That should solve your problem. There is a metal pin type rod in the cap.This is designed to keep the top open. If This is your problem then do this.I  have and it's worked for me.

        If you don't have any, then go to someplace like Joann's and get some Large " T "pins. Discard the plastic cap and put one of these into the nozzle, That will close it just fine.

I have one of those Testors glues too. There is nothing to clip off. The cap unscrews and there is a fine metal tube that dispenses the glue. When you are done using it you put the cap back on. 

I think you clipped off the top of the cap. When you used it, the glue came out but also filled up the area around the inside of the cap from the threads at the bottom where it screws on up and over the top of the tube too. That's why you aren't getting any glue out now. The top of the metal tube is sealed shut. If you carefully sand it down till you get to the top of the metal tube you should be able to use it again. You just will have to find a way to cover the top to seal it when your done.
