About Modelshipnut

Age 73 (in March, 2013). Formerly US Treasury Department tax exempt org. specialist, then worked in same capacity for several Big Six accounting firms. Real love is military and naval/maritime history. Worked as consultant to Trevor Dupuy's Historical Evaluation and Research Organization in the 1970s, then freelance author on maritime and military topics for various journals and encyclopedias, published book on Jewish Revolts in 2010, one forthcoming on "the Imaginary Sea Voyage" (in catalog for June, 2013) and have contract with Pen & Sword for book on Roman sea power (ms. due in a couple of months). Have built models of medieval and renaissance sailing ships from plastic kits, modern warships as well. No longer can build models due to bad hand-eye coordination. I have a large collection of professionally built ship models (about 1/3 self-built and the rest purchased from internet modelers) which my wife keeps threatening to "export" as they have taken over my home office space, but she may only be half bluffing.  My model collection ranges from ancient Greek and Roman vessels to modern yachts, warships, fishing vessels, tugs and other workboats, lightships----just about everything nautical.
