It's a Canadian Bird, AY ?
Posted by rjkplasticmod on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 6:13 PM

This was my entry for the Canadian GB.  The model represents a Hawker Sea Fury of the Royal Canadian Navy, VF 870 Squadron, HMCS Shearwater, circa 1950.  It's the Hobbycraft 1/48 kit with interior & exterior detail sets from Cutting Edge.  Model was painted with Model Master enamels & decals are from Eagle Strike.

Hope you enjoy the peek.

Regards,  Rick

Rick,

Absolutely beautiful work on the Sea Fury.  The finish is superb.  I like the spick & span clean as opposed to the very dirty, battle worn look, just for something different.  Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup]

Rick,

Just great!  Your builds are always so crisp.  The spinner hub and the panel lines really help to make this one "jump".  Is the spinner painted or a decal?

Thanks everyone for the comments, really appreciate them.  The model was painted with Model Master enamels.  There are no exact matches for the Canadian colors that I know of, so I used British Extra Dark Sea Grey over Light Gull Grey.  These are not exact matches, but close enough for me.

You have done the RCN and the CAF proud! We should make you an honourary Canadian, Eh?Cool [8D]Thumbs Up [tup]

Hey, no worries Rick, I love hearing about peoples' history.  That is so cool about your grandparents.  Both my mothers parents were born in the Ukrane and came to Alberta in the 20's and 30's.  The Boutins have been roaming the Continent since 1665.  Apparently a Boutin helped found Mobile Alabama!

I said it before too Rick but it's worth repeating. Great build!! Thumbs Up [tup]

My grandmother came from the States, Detroit to be exact.  So does that make me an honorary Michigian?  Huh?  Actually spent a summer down there once.

Great Build! As an Canadian ex-military pilot I love the Canadian stuff!  Of all the piston engined aircraft, that would have been one of the most exciting to fly. Great job again.

Simply gorgeous build of a great aircraft Rick Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup].  I must say of all the kits I've seen you produce and display, that has to rank as one of the favourites.

Great job
