My current WIP is a 1/72 XP-47H.
Starting point for this build is the MPM kit. It is an old short run kit and not up to todays stansards. My first idea was to use the details from an academy kit, such as gear and cockpit. But after reading some reviews and looking at pictures from XP-47H's it became obvious the the MPM kit is inaccurate. I than changed the plan to grafting the nose of the MPM kit on the academy kit.
Thanks to another forum member I got some plans of the XP-47H (thanks again dogsbody!) Looking at those plans I found that not only the nose but also the belly of the MPM kit should be grafted on the academy kit. This is my current plan. Below is the picture of the two kit and the places the cuts are going to be made:
Goals of this operation are twofold:
1) take benefit of the better detail of the academy kit
2) making a more accurate model, the MPM is the correct lenght but the belly is to "fat" and the air scoop to far forward.
