How come the stars are different colors? One poster had two red ones, another had two blue ones?

Isn't it obvious? Wink [;)] (Just kidding...)

Red stars are "meant" to signify Administrators.

I think the stars have something to do with how many posts you have on the forum. Am I right Dave? How about posting somewhere on the sight how mwny posts you need to move to the next level?

Ranks & Stars
Posted by David Voss on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 9:17 AM
You are correct - the more posts, the more stars (basically).

Here's the current setup:

Level 0
Rank Name: Starting Member
Post Count: 0-9

Level 1
Rank Name: New Member
Post Count: 10-99

Level 2
Rank Name: Junior Member
Post Count: 100-499

Level 3
Rank Name: Average Member
Post Count: 500-999

Level 4
Rank Name: Senior Member
Post Count: 1000-1999

Level 5
Rank Name: Advanced Member
Post Count: 2000+

Administrators
Rank Name: Administrator
Post Count: # of stars depends on the post count above

Moderators
Rank Name: Moderator
Post Count: # of stars depends on the post count above

Stars not in use:

The Rank Names are the defaults from the initial setup. We never discussed changing the Rank Names (getting the site live was a bit more important Wink [;)]). So maybe if anyone has any suggestions, we'll consider changing them. Wink [;)]

The challenge tho' - it shouldn't be specific to any particular subject. Smile [:)]

I like the blue and the puprle better than the grey and brown ones! Not that I'm close to reach level 3 and 4 (well, level 4 anyway!) [:-)]

The "grey" and "brown" stars are meant to be silver and bronze. Although they do look more grey and brown than the silver and bronze.

Sharp, Dave. Do you also get frequent flyer bonus stars for marathon weekends (you know-when you're out of paint, out of superglue, and there's a WWII or aviation film marathon on ...fill-in-the-blank...network- and you spend WAY too much time on the site :)-Ed

I feel much better now that the "secret" of the stars and their color codings has been unveiled. Now, back to the modeling bench!

Dear FSM sys and webadmins, how does one become a moderator or administrator of a and/or multiple boards on the FSM forum? I would be very interested in becoming one(either mod or admin) and think I'd be of good use! I modded the forums at www.mektek.net for awhile, and I'm the only admin(besides the sysadmin) at a Mortal Kombat bbs!

Okay, "average member" just has to be changed. That's just rude! Smile [:)] How about something like "contributing member". Anything but average! There's nothing "average" about dj's contribution to this site.
