Thread accessibility
Posted by Dodgy on Saturday, January 21, 2023 6:35 PM

Hi folks. For some time now I have had a problem that prevents me from participating in group build threads. When I access a GB, for example the Between the Wars GB, if it has say 5 pages, I can only get it to load the first 3 pages. This prevents me from seeing the most recent posts. If I try and add a new post, it appears on the last page that I can access and not where the thread is actually at.

This is happening on two seperate machines which are in no way connected. I have tried clearing my history, but nothing changed. Also I can't log out, which also happens on both machines.

Any ideas???

I'm not sure. I just checked the thread you mentioned and was able to see all the pages. I'll check with the team on Monday. In the meantime, what OS and browser(s) are you running?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question -- it certainly wouldn't be my first Big Smile -- but have you tried hitting the "Order descending" button at the top of the frame? That would theoretically load the most recent replies first.

Hi Tim and thanks for the quick reply. I'm using Google as the browser, but I'm not sure what the OS is. Could the problem with my access to threads be connected to my inability to log out? Again this is happening on both machines.

Hi Greg. No such thing as a stupid question mate. I hadn't been using the order ascending button, but I did try it following your suggestion, but no luck. Thanks anyway.

Hi Tim and thanks for the quick reply. I'm using Google as the browser, but I'm not sure what the OS is...

Hi, Dodgy, that's short for operating system.  For example, are you on a Windows machine, like a laptop, or Apple/Macintosh, on a mobile device, so it could be Android, etc, etc?

Your description of the issue reminds me of the issue we had in the past with threads that had many replies, say, tens or hundreds of replies.  The paging functionality broke down, trying to handle so many pages.

Thanks for that mate. I had the same problem a couple of years ago, but it disappeared after a couple of days. As a result of your advice I'll put together all the info I can on my systems and post it for Tim to pass on.
