Hello Everyone,

It's been awhile, and I hope things are fine for everyone. With the latest things going on around us, we have been very busy here. I have put out all the things sent to me in our rec. room, and nothing's left! The HHC Commander was very surprised, and wanted to pass along his thanks to everyone.

I have a problem that I need some help on. I have been working on a 1/48 RF-8G Crusader model. It's a momogram/C&H conversion, with War Eagle decals. This thing has been thru hell with me as I've tried to finish it. I was cleaning up around it, when it fell out of my hands and onto the floor. It split just forward of the landing gear.   I put it back together with superglue, but there's a bad seem there.

I need some expert help to fix this. I will pay for shipping there and back, and let me know the cost for finishing this plane. It's very dear to me as I was in the Navy, and flew in VFP-206. Let me know if 1 of you can help.

Again, I want to thank you guys for all you've done.  I'm on the night shift now, and we do most of our work at night. Still no beer/women here tho...

Take care,

David

1970 in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam. But one of them was mounted on a 2-1/2 ton a .50 cal was kind of hard to fire from your waist. Keep your head down.

I can round up some reading material for you, such as issues of Wings, and Fine Scale Modeler if it would help along aith a few unbuilt kits.As a retired Army Engineer it would be a pleasure to help out.

David, my trunk is full of kts and some paints. I keep adding to the pile, and will toss in some more paints real soon now. I hope to get the darn thing shipped off by this week's end, or I'll end up needing a container!

I was walking around packing two guns just last night. I take my two sons to the shooting range Monday nights, and I help the range marshall set up (they have weapons for the kids to shoot). In actual fact I was packing three rifles and a revolver. Big Smile [:D]

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to say hello to everyone. Things here have been Very busy, and long days/nights.  The flying has been something else.  We are all doing fine, and finding ways to blow off steam after missions. R/C has really gotten big. Foam flyers in the fields by POL. There are several of us still building away on models. I don't think anyone has finished though...

I would like to thank all of you for the support. I understand there are others here e-mailing other FSM members. That's cool.

You guys take care. Oh, when was the last time you were packin 2 guns walking around??

Big Smile [:D]

I have heard from Kosovo again after I asked them if they have specific needs... besides more of anything... and the request is for paint.  I know there is a "Paint Needed" thread going but just I would pass on the request.

Sent out the first package and today is the day I'm going to collect all the stuff from the local club and the LHS.
I hope I have to send TWO boxes!

The eagle has landed.  9 days from NJ to Kosovo.  Not too bad for the military.  BTW  my box was about 11 pounds and the postage was $10.  Lets all start cleaning out our stashes.

Hmmm....snowed in with model kits and beer??? That doesn't sound like rough duty to me Dave!

Just kidding of course. Glad to hear you're getting things for the guys. I'm getting a box together soon. Drop me an email and let me know if there's anything in particular you want to build.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks again for the replies, and as I've been getting stuff, and handing them out I am telling everyone about the forum, to respond, and tell you all how things are.  It's been busy around here, and the weather was great for getting around. Then today we got about 8" of ice/snow, and some of the crews got stranded. Not to worry, it was at a post with beer.

Funny you were talking about basements. On New Year's day mine was flodded with 10" of water as my sump pump stopped. Was great fun for the wife and kids. Seems I'm always away when there's a project with the house. I told her now's the chance to put in that drop in ceiling!!

Take care, and thanks again,

David

Well, sort of...I've only had this basement for about 10 months now, but yes, back in Jersey, she told me for 12 years to clean the basement!!

I confess I'm dragging my heels on this project. Shipping to an APO direct from Canada has it's difficulties, but Canada Post and I have discovered the appropriate paperwork to continue.

I hope to have my shipment off this Saturday. Wing_Nut has a pretty tough act to follow! Wink [;)]

Jeff, I hear that your wife has been telling you for years to clean up the basement! Mischief [:-,]

So long folks!

I thought I had posted this here but was in the "paints needed" thread  oops.Blush [:I]

-----------

On my way to the Post Office now to send this to the people in Kosovo.  10 kits, several of the Hasegawa weapons set, Acrylics, sanding sticks and some other goodies.  My stash is small but was easy to weed out some stuff and then fill in with a few diferent kits and such.

Total cost?  Dont' care.... The reason I can to this.... is because they are over there doing that.

I'm going to the LHS this weekend to see what deals I can get on 1:72 figuring I could get more kits in the box...

I'll make sure ta few WW2 AC for blackhawkcrew, who has a fine mission in life! Mine is to build a model of every WWII AC!

I am also in Kosovo with CW3 Tsiridis.  I am currently building 2 R/C planes.  I also build scale WWII aircraft.  My mission in life is to build a model of everyting the Allies flew during that war.  Thank you for all the support.

New mail finds the guys like WWI planes , 50-70s Jets and of course cars!
Maybe we could give a heads up to other forums for all the clubs that have an interest in their venue??
I'd like to see these guys buried in plastic!

David e-mailed me also and I have a few models on the way and some magazines and the like.
I found out they have an ex-Coastie in their midst so I am of course going to really take these guys under my wing.
I am going to the LHS and begging for cool stuff tomorrow.

David has already emailed me, and he wanted to know if others could email me with their wish lists. Of course I said "YES!" so I am waiting for those before sending anything. I will post those here for others to view when I get them.

Thanks guys. I received an email David and he informs me that his group is flying a lot of missions, so he might not get the chance to reply as often as he'd like.

All the best,

Jeff

Hi,

I would like to thank you all for the replies. We are an Army Lift Unit, rotorheads mostly, with a few Navy/Marine types here. All of us arrived in December, with the hotel bill payed until Feb 2007. I brought some unbuilt models with me, and an airbrush. Over the past months I found several guys that built kits to. One of the guys built 1 of every military aircraft in Michigan.  So I am trying to get us together to build. Sharing plastic construction tools, methods on building, things like that.

All together there are 7 of us. We even have 2 R/C 3D airplanes (foam) flying at times. They can't fly past the wire. If there is a post for pictures, we have collected a bunch. Just tell me where/how to send pictures of the area/aircraft.

Again, thank you for the post and replies. Even old magazines are great. We don't have much, and like to build and read to.  Take care, check six

Yea, but... That's a big 10-4, good buddy, catch ya on the flip flop. Keep your pedal to the metal and your eye on the sky, and don't let Smokey ruin your run. isn't usually preceeded by "Fire for effect".

In this particular case, I'd prefer it if you, the end-user, could send directly. I don't mind doing it, but my travel schedule starts soon and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to dedicate as much time as I need to on the project.

As soon as I hear from CW3 Tsitiridis, I'll let you know.
