IPMS Nationals in Columbus July 22-25

Going on well;    One vendor room opened late due to a conflict in scheduling.   Other vendors are open & selling with some good bargains.  Got a couple of good buys

If you are only coming on Saturday plan on arriving early for most available time.    Contest room closes at 4 pm for awards placement,   vendors begin packing & leaving Saturday afternoon,

Perhaps just as well..........................I'd probably buy more stuff than my car can hold.

I can't help wonder how people who share a ride are ever gonna fit everybody AND their purchases in the vehicle for the drive home........

I would like to know if any of the dealers showed up with a van full of Dukes of Hazzard General Lee kits.

Wish I'd known of the guys here. I came on a last minute whim and would have been fun to meet up.

All I have to say is wow! The nationals were incredible! Some very outstanding builds! The entire experience was terrific! 

I took my 10 year old, and I think he's hooked now. I bought him two models, but he got another three free, plus the make n' take mustang. He scored 6 models!

Hog, that does appear to be the rocket. Unless there were two of those there, that was done by a forum member from here.

Correction;;The mother of all thunderbolts was at the nationals in 1/48 scale.From Seattle.

I believe that one got Best of Show!

Nice to see that prize go to a 1/48 single!

I was told that my Barracuda (w/ folded wings) was a serious contender...but who really knows!

I am satisfied though...

All told...4x 1sts, 1x 2nd, and 3 3rds!

There was no plan there...clean clothes were limited when I left...that shirt happened to be clean!

Haha, I used to ride out that way by Hamburg, Pinckney, Gregory and Stockbridge. Used to stop at the Zukey Lake Tavern a lot too. Almost bought a house in Whitmore Lake. 

Zukey Tavern expanded and is now rediculous...crap-ton of people, long waits for a table...NO THANKS!, We go to Whitmore Lake Tavern instead...smaller, rarely ever have to wait, friendlier and same menu!

I drive around Whitmore Lk every day..to/from work. M-36/9 mile is choked with traffic these days. I work out of South Lyon.

Hey Fermis- I judged aircraft, and yeah, your Barracuda was a serious contender for best aircraft. VERY nice job! Dunno if you checked out that 1/48 natural metal P-47 with the open engine and wings, but boy- that was a piece of work. What else did you win with?
