Didn't the West originally call the Lun the "Caspian Sea Monster"?

Why would they call it that, when the Lun was deployed with the Black Sea Fleet?!
Or maybe it was the Black Sea Monster. I remember reading the article back in the 90's. Doesn't have the same ring, though.
