One vehicle you’d love see running again?

So after looking at Bish’s fantastic Me 410 build, I commented how wonderful it would be to see one of these beautiful birds restored back to flying condition.  So how about you? What military or civilian vehicle would you like to see restored back to its former glory and in running condition? 

For me, I‘d love to see, and hear, a black Bf 110D Nachtjager take flight once again!

 

Same here to see a Bf 110 night fighter start up and take off would be amazing.

An F-111 fuel dump low pass at night would be one, though getting my truck back up is first on the list

I would buy a ticket tomorrow!

My red '60 Chevy convertible with white upholstery, white top, warmed over 348 with trip deuces, cam and solid lifters, turnpike cruiser skirts and large continental kit. Also removed the mufflers and ran with only caddy resonators mounted in the rear quarter panels (legal in '60). My , the most beautiful land yacht ever.  I owned it and wished I still had it.

For an aircraft, it would be the B-36.  I attended several airshows back in the day that featured fly-bys of that plane.  The noise was awesome.  3 big radial recips, and four jets!

I would love to see an unlimited hydro boat race again, now that there is a recip on the series.  I live far from any unlimited venue, but used to live in Detroit, where the Silver Cup was held every year on the Detroit River.  Even though it was a pretty big course, far turn was a couple of miles away from my vantage point, even when the boats were at far turn the engine noise was awesome.  Love to see an unlimited even where ALL the boats used recips.

For cars, I occasionally attend vintage racing events, especially the one in Milwaukee.  I see really old racing cars running around the Milwaukee track.  Really spectacular.  Worth attending for old racing car fans.

A TBD. The only ones known to exist are all at the bottom of the ocean. Probably those in the best condition were found near the sunken wreck of USS Lexington.

I'd second the TBD and add a Vindicator. How about a P-43 Lancer or Defiant? PE-2?

How about a B-58 Hustler. I'd love to see and hear that thing take off.

Any of our "superdreadnaughts", from the Nevadas to the Colorados, or our earlier carriers, the Lexingtons, the Ranger, the Wasp, or the Yorktowns, in their between-the-wars livery. 

I would love to resurrect my first car, a 1960 Cadillac convertible, wine-red body with black top and black leather interior!  It was strictly factory stock, and had a bit of wear and tear from the first owner, but dang!  It was still a Caddy, complete with the spaceship tail fins!

Wow, many of you have already listed some of my holy grails; like the B-36, B-58, and XB-70. I guess I could add an SR-71 hitting thier afterburner.

For land tracked vehicles I would say having the ability to watch and walk through any WW1 Mk-V tank. My other tracked vehicle would be a complete WW2 armored train (German or Russian).....

My number 1 pick for land wheeled vehicle would be to inspect and watch the 4 engine Mickey Thompson speed record car of the 60's, closely followed in 2nd by an old 30's rear engine Auto Union race car.

One that comes to mind for the water would be an 1800's steam paddle wheel battle boat like the USS Hartford, CSS Alabama, or the USS Kearsarge. My second would be a full recreation of the Titanic.  

For me would be a Sdkfz. 234/2 Puma. None of these turreted 8 rads are in existence. 

Drums01, your in luck when it come to the Titanic. There is a cruise line that is in the process of building a replica cruise ship of the Titanic. I don't recall which line it is, but I have read a couple articles on it. I stand Corrected. I just googled it. The Titanic II looks like it will be much bigger than the origional. and mor moder hull design.

Five : 1957  Chevrolet Bel-Air with F.I.

 And Six : 1958 Chris - Craft or Owens Custom Coronado at speed on Lake Powell . 

I'd travel to Utah to see Art Arfon's Green Monster, the one with the J79.

Those days of the LSR run with privately developed cars were very cool.

Oh, yeah!  The 1956 Lincoln Continental!  It was the top notch car of the day.  I remember it cost about $10,000, and that included a trip to Detroit to see your car being built.  Plus, they also gave you an engraved nameplate on the dashboard, personalized as being "specially built" for you.  What an ego trip!  Of course, few could afford that price in 1956.

I’d like to add the British TSR-2 to my list.

Don, I was going to mention the Detroit Open. I'm also a Detroit native form the southwest side of town. Where did you live?

Put me down as a second for the B-58! That would be cool to see. I've seen the F-111 light up on the fuel dump, it's IMPRESSIVE!
