Woe is Me?
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Friday, February 3, 2023 6:10 AM

Hi:

         This is a phrase that passes through our minds when all the B.S. hits the fan at once. For sure! What do we do? Do we Pray? Many do. Many Don't! The thing is There is a threshold we reach when we just seem not to be able to take any more. BUT, It gets piled on and somehow we keep going.

          It may be a Family thing, a Romance thing or just Life in general and the turds that get thrown at you by the other so called intelligent monkeys you work with. It may be Health or Pay or Child related, or even Bills. Ugh, Bills. Somehow we make it through. Why?

         Look at the posts about those of us who have gotten sickly, or suffered a loss either of our Friends and Family members or the same with our Four Legged Family members, At a time we certainly didn't need it. I have found that folks who have a hobby or skill outside of work survive these things better than folks who are wrapped up in this crazy, defeatist world we live in.

         For Instance, Who needs to be an Influencer or Someone who buys all the hype? I certainly don't! My advice is simple. Take the Time to Smell those Roses! You don't need selfies and all that B.S. There are folks that love you and look up to you, gather them around and push the crazies away!

         You often wonder why I don't post pics. It's hard to break a 50 year old mold. I never took photos of any of my works in progress, Unless I had to for the client! I don't like to break off take photos then try to get back on track. Plus I get a system started then someone wants Money, I don't got a lot of that and don't take enough photos to make it worth it for my budget! I am paying for some bad mistakes concerning finances when I was younger. Such is life. I have a good one though!I mean Look at all the friends I have made. That was once said to me." You can tell when a man is really wealthy., How? By the amount of friends he has who don't care about his Money!"

   You ARE APPRECIATED here TB. Pictures or not your participation on these forums is always welcome.

     I agree with " stop and smell the roses". Life is way to short with what feels like more challenges than we can handle, grinding resposibilities, schedules, health scares, and yes even the passing of a beloved friend...two or four legged. Be sure TB that you have folks here who really care about your plite.

     That is one of the most amazing things to me about our hobby, from rivet counter to novice OOB builder we seem to all be able to relate. Have a WONDERFUL DAY TB, keep charging.

we're modelers it's what we do

I have taught myself "if I don't die today, there will always be a tomorrow".  It sounds like a fatalistic motto, but it got me through my last semester of college, the death of my parents, and some rough times at work.

And as TB said, take time to appreciate life, during good and bad times.  It is short and precious, so cherish it and use it well.

And build lots of models - for fun.  You don't wanna be THAT guy.  Smile

Well said one and all. I began to see the world through a different lens once I was a top producer in the fortune 500 and fortune 50 world. I learned that no matter how hard you try and how well you do it's never enough for the money hungry, greedy, dirt bags that run the show. I stepped away over a decade ago and made the choice to live my life, my way. That means I don't work much, and my income reflects it. BUT, I spend ALL my time with my family. I've lost many people along the way and money really isn't all that important. Those that love you and care for you are what it's all about. I would rather live with less and have that precious time with them than continue to kill myself in the corporate world and make lots of money but sacrifice all your life for it. Hard pass!! Take time to smell the roses, YES!! For tomorrow may never come and all that work and money did nothing to make you happy in the end.

TB, you are valued more than you know.

BrandonK;

     Yeah!' I was there to.made some bad mistakes and now I have to be on a budget. Gosh, I hate that. BUT, I get to do many things like a lot of folks don't have time for. Have you ever taken the time to watch folks just before Christmas? Christmas Spirit? Where? I escaped it and sought shelter here, whatta safe harbor it's turned out to be. Thank You!
