I like the kid-versions.  Here's me (little one on my brothers shoulders) and my brothers and sister in Liverpool - 69/70?  I was about 5.

Thanks,

This is me in November 2019 at Hollywood Studios posing in front of an X-Wing.

This was toward the end of football season, and it was a Saturday, so I was wearing my worn-out A&M Football shirt (the Ags were robbed at UGA that day).  But fun story, Disney hires people who's job it is to take photographs of the guests in front of famous sites.  The gal who took this picture was in the Disney internship program from Texas A&M.

The earliest photo I have of myself without resorting to digging out the family album is this.

I think this was taken around when I graduated from high school (1983).  Gosh that was long ago.

Now I'm older, fatter, and grayer.

BTW, I usually never dress up like that; the selfie was taken when I had to attend a formal dinner.  I usually dress like the "before" photo!  I only noticed now that the two photos were taken in the same location (my dining room).

A friend was mistaken to be my son, as our age difference is about right.

I guess he does sort of resemble the 1983 me a bit.  The gentleman next to him is none other than Mr Shunsaku Tamiya, yes, the Big T!  My friend Riki is such a lucky bugger.  We were all heaving about in a jealous rage when he told us of how he bumped into Mr Tamiya, struck up a conversation (he's fluent in Japanese), was invited to lunch, then was given a private tour of their Shizuoka facility!  If he was my son. I'd have an excuse to do the Japanese parent thing and contact Mr Tamiya to personally thank him for his hospitality!

In the cockpit of what used to be Vintage Wings of Canada's Sabre at the Bagotville Airshow about six years back.  I've lost 1.5 chins since that photo was taken.

So let's go back in time..............

                                         smilyatcomputer.gif image by CommentCrazyGirl

             Here I am in '57..... about 6

And still in Wichita, Kansas. I loved it there.

Dad had been working for Boeing aircraft since '52.

Three years later I was handed my instruction book for my B-17.

  http://th307.photobucket.com/albums/nn293/ccwebcrap/Smileys/th_truestory1.gif

So in late 1960 after studying that instruction book (: Pand having built an airplane kit nearly every week on a .50 a week allowance) I finally started on my big 1/72 scale Memphis Belle I had bought from the local drug store.

That was a long time ago but I remember it very clearly. I had a great Mom. Dad was always at work.

Ordinarily I would do my modeling in the basement but that day mom had cleared the kitchen table and surprised me with a 16 .oz Pepsi and a couple of Hardee Huskies that Friday evening.

So, that's how she got this picture.

That's the fuselage in my left hand

                                                              and

I had a mouth full of hamburger there.

(microwaves would'a been nice back then)

At 17 it was cars, girls, cars, girls,bf-pig0smileys.gif image by befje& cars so there wasn't much time for models.

A few years later I found out that building models was much cheaper than the car/girl culture so except for a few burps or should I say https://forum.ultravnc.net/images/smilies/_icon_tomato.gif "throwups" I've been at it ever since.

Modeling is where I was always mean't to be.

 Well, I gotta go.

Ya we are old.

Only in body.

I think most of us still have that smart-a** twelve-year-old lurking on the inside. Big Smile (We've just learned the hard way not to leave glue-smear thumbprints on every model we build...well, most of us, anyway.)

Good for you oortiz!  Elementary students need great male role models in their classrooms.   Its been three years and I still miss working with my students but I don't miss the "other stuff" that goes along with teaching.  Enjoy your time in the classroom.

Oortiz, what grade do you teach?  I retired from 30 years as a public school elementary teacher in 2020.(a short stint in middle school too)

Hey Tom, I teach sixth. My district is K-6, 7-8; 9-12. So, I'm elementary, too. This is my 10th year. I transitioned into teaching after about 12 years in the biotech field. There was a HUGE pay cut, a lot of lost fringe benefits (A LOT), but I'm so glad I did it.
