My 7 yo son building his first model!
Posted by chops1sc on Monday, September 18, 2023 11:28 AM

My 7 year old son came into the hobby room and asked to build a car in my stash! Here he is putting in the work (under supervision of course).

                 He looks very focused.

              I think he's on to something here.

Reminds me of my early days at the kitchen table.

Eventually, I graduated to the kitchen counter.....   where I still am.

That's about the age I started. It's an addiction. A GOOD one if you gonna have one.

Good for you, sharing the hobby with your Bud. Just as he decided to ask to build one, with encouragement from Dad along the way, he can be the one to decide to or not. I see these posts ever now and then, I love seeing a youngster taking his/her first steps at Dad's bench.

I hope he'll continue, it will make for some very happy moments in your lives. Thanks for a very nice post and for the photos.

Well;

      Now see! The younger generation can be interested! Just got to give them exposure to it(Building Models) on their own terms. I believe that seeing the smiles, and other facial expressions along with the calmness after a successful build, show them it can be fun!

Way to go chops1sc! It goes to show how leading by example can be a good thing. I've been doing this with my 24 yr. old special needs son for a couple years. I can read the pride and happiness you have with him in your post. For now it's a model kit, soon it will be model show's, then he will want to borrow the airbrush, etc. Jarrod and I hope you have many years of modeling happiness together!
