I prefer 1/48 for aircraft and 1/700 for ships.

1/35 Armor first, then 1/72--although I will say that the current trend of Dragon using that one-piece "DS track in their 1/72 kits has seriously turned me off. I HATE one-piece tracks that you can't sag or model as knocked-out.

I have no interest at all in 1/48, and as far as 1/25, or 1/16, well, I simply would have no room to put the bigger scales anywhere.

1/48 aircraft, big enough to add detail, small enough to "fudge" said detail. Love 1/32, but $$$ is a huge factor there. 1/72 aircraft,I use for "decompresion" builds, nice and simple, O-O-B. Plus I get them 72nds at contests for less than$5.

I build 1/48 aircraft. 1/48 is big enough for nice detail work, yet small enough to display.

I have also built about a dozen 1/32 scale all of which are hanging from the ceilings of my boy's bedrooms.

If I was just entering or coming back in to the hooby, I would probably opt for 1/48 for air and armor. But I am way too deep in to 1/35 armor now to change... But as things stand right now, I build mainly 1/35 armor, and 1/48 aircraft as my "standards", although I am still dabbling in 1/32 air. In ships I prefer the larger scales, but the smaller vessel types.

I like 1/350 ships,1/700 is just to small for my fumbling fingers.

1/48 aircraft over 1/72 for the same reason........1/32 nice but you run out of display space real fast.

1/35 armor for all the selections, although I really like 1/48 but choices are limited.

About your other question.....need more info,Maybe the quality of the manufacturer,or one might be a "premium kit " with extras, but really cant say based on the infoo.

Hello fellow modelers what is you reasons for picking a certain scale model to build. Myself I like to work in 1/48 scale but the 1/72 scale seems to be really popular with a lot of you.  One other thing I was at the local hobby shop looking at the aircraft section.  Two models both 1/48 scale same airplanes one was in a larger box then the other and priced higher. Now the planes were the same expect for a letter designation difference is that expected.
