Is it hijacked if someone jabbers or if one....

JABBERWOCKY!

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Lewis Carrol

*******

On my workbench now:

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

Yes Jimbot - now it's officially hijacked!!!

Although Lewis Carrol is a little high-brow for this crowd, it usually degenerates into Monty Python etc.!

This issue pretty much goes back to the birth of internet forums. An apocryphal but more or less real response comes from the old question, "How many forum posters does it take to change a light bulb? "

A:
1 poster to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

14 posters to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 posters to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

1 moderator to move it to the "Lighting" section of the forum.

2 posters to argue that it should have been moved to the "Electrical" section.

7 posters to point out spelling and grammar errors in the posts about changing light bulbs.

5 posters to flame the spell checkers.

3 posters to correct the previous spelling and grammar corrections.

6 posters to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" (with another 6 thrown in to condemn the previously mentioned 6 as stupid, uneducated rednecks.)

2 posters who may or may not be the lighting industry professionals they claim to be, who inform the group that the proper term is "lamp."

15 posters who claim they used to be in the lighting industry, and that "lamp, light bulb or bulb" is perfectly acceptable.

19 posters exasperated about how this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum.

11 posters to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum.

36 posters to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what type of light bulbs work best for the particular application, and why the United States has lost their position as "World Leader" in lighting technology to China.

7 posters to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

4 posters to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then to post the corrected URL's.

3 posters to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group, which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.

13 posters to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too!" with a smiley face emoticon as their only actual original input.

5 posters to post to the group that they will no longer post on the forum because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

4 posters to say, "Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 posters to say, "Do a Google search on light bulbs before posting inane lighting questions."

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

1 additional moderator to lock the thread and threaten banning for anyone who attempts to revive the topic.

I agree, but at least it stayed on topic...in here, there would have been a spotted cat in there somewhere...

...then just Starship! (There's a skit on Monty Python's album about a band like that.) If I ever paid money to "experience" Jefferson Airplane, I would never admit to it. And I didn't. Admit to it, err, see them, uhh - ooohhh, something shiny!!    -->
