Which is yor favorite part?

Finishing... when the last fiddly bit is glued in place and the last bit of weathering is on. To step back and behold my latest creation

Does opening the box for the very first time count?  Because that would be my favorite part of the whole modeling experience.  If it doesn't count, then I'd have to say working on the cockpit would be my favorite followed extremely closely by the decaling part.

I hear ya, man!  Whenever I get a new kit the first thing I do it tear it open, even if it's going to be months (or longer) until I actually build it.  I just love opening it up and looking at everything.  I'm like a kid at Christmas time.

 

 

 

Oh man... that is right!  I take mine back.  This is by far my fave.  I have never owned a kit with the plastic wrapper intact longer than the ride home.  That baby comes off the minute I walk in the door (it was not taken off already).

 

 

Gotta admit, examining the parts layout and kit design is a fun part of the purchase.

Still gonna stay with the gluing / assembly though.

 

Opening the box is great, but I don't do it anymore if it's sealed. i wait until I'm ready to build it.

I'll have to go with the construction followed very closely with that first base coat that begins to put life into the plastic. It really begins to look like the real deal.

No Tiger,you are just asking too much,you just have to open that box,don't open the bags but you just have to take a look inside.Remember sitting in the car outside the LHS and opening the box.

Leaving that box sealed would just be pure torture

Hmmm.......that's a hard one. I like it all. Opening it, building, painting, and decals. Tough to pick just one. Maybe painting. Seeing it come to life as the aircraft I wanted to build.

My favorite part?  That would be putting the completed kit on my shelves few steps away from my work bench... always feel great when I do this.

Ha-ha-ha!  I remember one time in particular where I made my purchase, walked back out to my car, got inside and then promptly removed the plastic wrap and opened the box.  It was at that moment when I told myself "I think I need help."  LOL!

Seeing a nice big plane all buttoned up, filled, masked, wiped down & ready to be hit with it's first serious coat of paint!

Weathering/Rust

Ripping the cellophane off the box and everything that comes after that...

Probably the only part I don't enjoy is waiting for paint to dry.

One aspect I really enjoy is the research and planning that goes into a project even before I hit the bench.  I like to build models that are both accurate and historically significant and a lot of that comes from the research that comes beforehand.  My collection of reference books rivals the stack of kits in my stash.

Aircraft - masking canopies and dealing with seams in areas surrounded with fine detail.

Armor - sanding wheels

I'm gonna have to go with assemly.  I like watching all those large individual parts turn into a tank.

Gluing / assembly.

I have to say mine is the paint booth.  With every layer applied the plastic becomes real and comes to life right in front you.  I noticed, at least in my house, no one cares nor comments on my model until the first layer of paint goes on.

I'm with you on aircraft,decaling really brings a sterile model to life.When I do armor,it's probably the weathering and detailing

I always like painting/detailing the cockpits of my aircraft. That area is such a focal point and I love seeing all that tiny detail!!

LOVE IT!! 

I suppose figuring out which version TO model.
