Goodbye Bondoman
Posted by mrmike on Monday, September 3, 2012 1:07 AM

Guess the thread about B'mans banishment has also been deleted - I went back ten pages looking for it. Just sayin' that I have enjoyed and learned from his posts over the past few years, and that I'm sorry that he's no longer in the FSM forums. I'll look for him in other forums, where the admins aren't so easily offended (I didn't see the over-the-top image, but if aircraft models with Sexy Lancs decal are OK, then how far out is too far?)

Farewell Bondoman!

I missed the whole affair but it is always a pity when an active and contributing forum member gets bannend.

I've seen it too many times on these forums - it's capitalism at it's worst. Let's keep these forums children-friendly to make more money! And everybody know, little children can't look at titties - it's bad for their health! It's far better if they look at weapons of war - that's nice, good business. Killing people - anytime, thinking about sex - never! <- It's this kind of thinking that makes me shake my head. Have a nice day

Wait he posted a nude noseart or something and got instant banned? Not even a warning of "don't do that again"???

Boy how things go to hell when I fail to login or check this site out for a while. I had no idea that Bondoman was bannished. From the comments I've read, it sounds like the Taliban have taken over here. Well, back to outlands where I find true freedom.

I don't what happened here, but sorry to hear about this censorship.  It seems the humor we used to enjoy is now totally lacking.  We're big boys here, should be able to have a little fun within reason.

What are some of the other forums around? I`ve been primarily a Finescale forum member as I never really felt the need to go elsewhere. If there`s going to be unconditional banishments, I think I may want to start exploring other outlets for my modeling. Whatever happened to progressive discipline? Ban someone for a first offense? Sounds like where I work, and it`s wrong IMO.

In FSM's defense I asked the Mods specificly about nude nose art. The post that Bondo was axed over was not a nude nose art. I had concerns because I have one of that  sort just finished which I was about to post, and one several more on my to do soon list. I spoke with Bondo directly and while the photo he posted was a nude and not nose art he did not think that it was offensive or out of line. But we all have different values regarding this stuff.

Much as Bondo getting axed stinks it's still not as bad as some other forums I've been on. You probably get a little more leway from other private forums but remember this is a corporate run forum. They have responsabilities and well grounded fears. In today's easily offended society a if little johnny sees a nude woman and mommy gets offended there are potentially alot of problems for Kalmbach, so that's probably why the zero tolerance. Heck the same thing goes on on Scaleautomag.com where you can get a ban hammer if you don't edit out the confederate flag on the roof of the General Lee and you can't post the Corvette "Rebel Racer" because the whole car is a rebel flag. Why? Because some random passer by might get offended.

Sigh. Well that is sad. He and I have conversed off the boards for years. Seems innocent enough, though I never saw the post. Personally, he should just chill out with Manny in the cooler for a while and say a couple of Hail Mary's and Our Fathers. LOL

wel maybe this forum is just "over the hill". A lot of old members have gone and activity has come to a grinding halt. Banning senior members is certainly not going to help reviving this forum.

I'm with troublemaker on this one. What other forums is everyone on? It seems that any amount of fun here has been taken away, and now the forum is too quiet.

While i can understand the point raised by Mike about haveing to be carefful not to offend someone looking to make a quick buck by sueing, this does seem a tad extreme. I didn't see the model he posted, but i can say i have ever come across figure models that were that bad, or am i just not looking hard enough. Some of the nose arts on some aircraft are a bit naughty, but this are historical aircraft, do we really want to censor history.

The 1942 GB badge could be considered naughty by some, while others have a much more open mind. Rather than going to the extreme that we have here, surely there is a better way of deling with this, and its not like we get these sort of models every day.

It is sad to lose bondo, and it would be sad to lose any more members, whether they be new to the sight or old timers. The wealth of experiance on here is second to none in my book and we have always been able to have a laugh, usually without it getting out of hand (ok, Jeff might not agree).

Jimmy, do you really get the feeling of being ignored because your post count isn't that high.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Gents,

It goes without saying that what was posted was way, way over the line of what is acceptable. It wasn't nose art or anything else even remotely connected to modeling, figure or otherwise. If you didn't see it, it's because it was brought to our attention by a member and taken down as quickly as possible, As has been stated many times, we don't take banning members lightly but we were left with little choice in the matter. This is all we are going to say on this matter so how's about we move on to modeling.

Cheers, Aaron

Thanks Aaron, I knew there had to be more involved here than one piece of nose art.

@professordeath. I do not agree with you. I for one am an "veteran" member, I am on this forum since 2004. But my post do not automatically attract huge following. Other members (doogatx, swanny, chuckw) get a great following. And I am totally cool with that. Those guys are far better modellers then I am, you can learn a lot visiting those treads.

Furthermore, I myself always try to welcome new modellers, even if it means just giving them a few attaboys.
