Here in Katy, Texas, west of Houston, the phrase "too cold" is rarely relevant.  Although we actually had not one, but two snow-falls this past winter.  My workshop is in my non-air conditioned garage, so I have to rely on either a small heater (for that one or two days when it is actually cold) or a couple of fans to keep a decent comfort level (for all other days of the year).  I do enjoy getting to spend as much of my available time as I can at the bench, but this time of the year it is often just too hot to be out there for very long.  Especially when that time would be on top of the 1-2 hours of time necessary to get the yard work done, once a week, or wash the vehicles, or whatever honey-do I have on my list.

In Boise, I use the spare room as our hobby room. Here in Dallas, my brother let me set up a small bench in the room he's letting me stay in until the doctors allow me to move back. I work on my builds mostly in the afternoon and evening but enjoy the additional light the comes through the window doring the day. It doesn't matter what the weather is.

Now that I've had my transplant, I'm able to get out and do things and I have less time to work on anything. I prefer it this way. Big Smile

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Summer is work season. I'm off from mid-Oct through April...so I gotta make my living from May-Oct. Needless to say, I am BUSY....not only with $$$ work, there's also all the other work around the house and projects and "get togethers". In order to work, I have to get the work...phone calls, quotes, etc...and everything else that goes into running a business. Hard to relax the brain and focus on a model, this time of year.

I live in a gated comunity for a reason.  There‘s no need to do the yard work, indoor honey-dew list, nor-the out door ones.  I realized this when my daughter went off to move to Kent, Ohio and my son moved to Youngstown, Ohio both for University purposes and to get away from ma and pa but close enough to get some money or a home cooked meal if needed!  lol!  BTW in Streetsboro, Ohio on the South/Eastern border of NE Ohio we could get no snow or get totally dumped on, was what told me and Mrs. Toshi we have to move back to Settlers Landing.

After Mrs. Toshi and I tried miserably one year to remove and attempt by hand to remove three foot of snow that dumped on us within seven to eight hours several years ago, our neighbor came by and used his snow blower and did the job.  Plus I could not do any yard work in the summer so we moved here.  I felt defeated and depressed for almost a year.  Then I discovered modeling and woke up to FSM and that was it!  I made Models night and day.  The only time I did not make models was when my grandson was born.  Within a few days all of my modeling funds disappeared lol!  What next!

Well needless to say is that My Grandson Ezra who will be two years old next month has taken away my bench time.  But a few hours here and there wouldn’t hurt at all and that’s how I’ve really adjusted my schedule around this, this thing that cries for every thing, this, this thing smell’s, this, this beautiful thing I love so much!

Modeling generally proceeded at a pretty even level throughout the year. When I worked, amount of shifts affected bench time, but not usually the seasons.
