My dad built my bench.  Butcher block bench top.  One of my favorite spots to be.

I used the shutdown as an opportunity to rebuild my bench.  I figure I'll be using it a lot in the near future!

Before:

After:

The laptop is not permanent; it's just there while I'm working from home.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.

Here's a quick shot I took of the bench the other day to prove that I actually picked the bench up some. Usually it's a mess but I know where everything is, except for the wee piece of PE that just shot off the tweezers.

Nice work areas, folks. This is always fun to do. It adds a personal touch to see where everyone hangs out.

I recently did some housecleaning too, so I'll play.

Like many here, plenty of idle time and it was nice to get off my backside and do a bit of organizing, start a new kit.

Would love to play along but in a month I am moving everything from the dining room and basement, into one room. Glad to see these photos for ideas on things I'd like to change when I move.

New to the forums and came across this thread.  Please, no laughing at my disaster of a workbench.  Nothing has changed since I was a kid... the workbench starts out well organized and clean when a model is started.... and looks like a tornado hit as it nears completion!

OK, need some help.... this is my first attempt at adding a pic to a post.  And as you see, all I got was a link.  How to have the pic itself appear in the post?

Woohoo!  Success!  Thank you Greg, I would never have figured that out on my own!

On your postimage page, press the 'share' button.

Copy the "direct link" address

Back here in your post, press the 'insert/edit image' button. It's on the second row of icons in the 'Post Body' GUI. Just to the right of the chain link icon. It looks like a little mountain.

Copy the Direct link into the 'source' field of the insert image GUI.

You should see your image pop up in your post body.

Here's mine.

Working on cleaning up a Devastator and P-40 for the museum and took the Paddle Steamer Great Western off of the "Shelf of Doom". The ship is on an old plastic kitchen cabinet round turntable on a folding food tray because there isn't any room on the workbench (as usual). I usually try to clean up the bench after a couple of builds. It was last cleaned up 2-1/2 years ago when we moved in.

PS - When at my last job, before retiring, I used to keep my desk there free of junk and papers. One day I was told "An empty desk is the sign of an empty mind". Does that mean "A cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind?" If it does, I'm in real trouble.Wink

I tend to keep my work area pretty clean. My paints, brushes, fillers, glues, are stored in the wood cabinets. That's my Monogram 1/48 B-29 sitting on the counter top. Because of its size I have no place to display it, so it just sits on the counter top looking at me. The round cylinders are EU MegaBoom speakers. I like to play music when I work. I bought the chair at Office Depot. Really comfortable. I can sit in it for hours without developing a stiff back. Currently I'm working on a 1/12 scale F1 race car. The engine is sitting in the middle of my work bench.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

I'm outta space. We are hoping to move this summer, but with this as they are we most likely won't. I have to make due with cramped quarters and no more space for completed works. I hope to get more organized when we do move.

It's always great to see other folks work benches and how they have things set up and organized. Thanks for sharing everyone.

Here be my bench. I like to keep it somewhat organised and tidy. i've got the 1/700 Dragon USS Oakland going on at the moment.

And then there's this issue I have with my spray booth given that the Princess Thera has laid claim to it. No big thing really.

As I left it last night. Not the best pic. I am thinking about moving everthing out of the basement into a spare bedroom for lack of space in the basement. The cave is getting crowded with weights and exercise equipment. And Xbox accessories...TV, couch, and old crappy but oh,so comfortable recliner with Dorito and Cheeto stains on the sides.

...And most of my finished models. I really don't care what happens to them after they are built. I have been looking for a cheap case to display them... or might blow them up.

Funny, I just got my benched cleaned up...and took pictures too!

My wife and I are both teachers, and our campuses have closed for the year. Starting tomorrow, I'm moving to "distance learning." My wife's school has already been doing distance learning for a couple of weeks now. Anyway, my "office" was originally slated as a place for me to do work at home, but it became my modeling space. Now that I'll be working exclusively from home, I had to clean up my "nerd room" (as my wife calls it) to have space for both work and play.

I spent yesterday getting it handled. Here are a few before and afters...

Happy modeling gang! Stay clean, stay separated, stay indoors; stay safe!

-It's Omar, but they call me "O".

A recurring topic.

Here's mine...

I'm about halfway finished adding a hutch back to the bench, with 2 shelves running its length.  That will let me organize some storage a little better.  I have the supports installed, just have to add the shelves.  I'll have to take new pics, when I finish.

Some storage under the bench...

Here's mine. I like it tidy, so I clean up after each session. Storage underneath in a plastic drawer set.

I usually work on projects at my bench in my garage but this model has spread out too much and has taken over my kitchen!

The baron,

I like the easel you have in your second pic. I need one of those.
