Wow. I feel like SUCH an underachiever here. . .

Started in 2003 and finished this year:
1/350 USS Hornet
1/72 OS2U Kingfisher

Started and finished this year:
2 Polar Lights Batmobiles
1/350 USS Hoga

Started and still under construction:
1/72 F/A-18-C Hornet
1/72 German Schnellboot

Next year I promise to do better. . .

Paul, I think once you finish that S-100 you will be more than happy.. a nice but long build that brings a lot of comments as people come into my house... (on my library table as you enter) ..

that OS2U kit didnt happen to be the same one Revell produced with the psychdelic markings and the chromed hemi style exhausts and weapons and such as an "add-on"? I built that one too come to think of it.. but in a standard dress.... then went for the 1/48 and thinking about doing another one... I love that plane!!

Tweety, that's a great offering, they all look great!

I just finished another 'model' yesterday: Revell's old "Goodyear Blimp". The one with the working lights and moving message. It's a snap together, but it really does work! I'll have to try and get some pics, one on the dark so you can see the lights working. I love it!

OK - I better add my My 2 cents [2c]

In 1/48 scale:

  • Revell Sopwith Camel
  • Airfix P51 in RNZAF TAF colours
  • Promodeler F117A (should get that finished before 1/1/2005 - decals to go)

In 1/1 scale (still a work in progress, but coming on great!!):

  • Baby daughter ... finished earlier than expected, but progressing well

Might look to be a short list, but quite proud of them all - especially the 1/1 effort Smile [:)]

Tom, as a matter of fact it was that same kit! I built one years ago as a kid and I'll never forget those wild yellow markings! This one didn't come with that decal sheet, however -

I really did not build much this year, I did however rebuild an appreciation for a hobby I quit about 20 years ago. While rebuilding that, I did manage to build:

1/48
Revell A-10
Revell F-16 (In progress actually)

1/32
Revell Corsair (This was my reintroduction model)

While none of these three are even close to resembling the real thing, I can look at each and remember what I learned while doing them.

Corsair - Hmmm....this tube glue really doesn't seem to be cutting it. Liquid cement, this I have to try!

A-10 - Xuron cutters are a lot more useful than I had originally thought. Need a magnifying glass, going crossed-eyed

F-16 There has to be an easier way to do flat white. (And as soon as the Floquil gets here I am going to give it a try). Wife gets "borrowed" nail files back.

All of the above - what is up with this FIne Scale Modeler Magazine, think I grab a copy and read it while my wife does the crossword. (True story - happened in a Barnes and Noble while we were having our Sunday Coffee - Air Brush story caught my eye, Dec 2004 Issue)

Starting a SU-27 (Russian Knights - Academy) after the holidays.

Thank You all for the advice you have given to myself and others,

-Aras

Not a record breaking year by any standards:
Finished: 1/72 Tamiya Kawanishi N1K1 George
1/72 Academy P-40 M/N
Started: 1/72 Airfix P-38 F/G don't laugh, I'm using it as an expirement in use of washes and pastels for weathering...but god the fit on this thing is terrible!!!

Like I said, not a banner year, due to work obligations, a hospital stay for my spousal unit in January, one for me in September...oh well at least I have been tobacco free for 4 months...now that is a record for me!!!

1) Schumacher's F-1 Ferrari, Tamiya kit 1/20 scale, loved doing this kit, it turned out great, I display it in a case, which I normally don't do, but I am quite proud of this one.

2) Italeri 1/35 M998 Hummer with the tow launcher, I work at the actual Humvee assembly plant so I decided to build little versions of all the different configurations we build in real life, I have several other Hummer kits but this is the only one I have built so far.

3) During the summer I went through a box of built kits that were pretty smashed up from moving, this included several aircraft, a couple of hot rods, a Harley, terminator Cyberdyne T-800, a couple of the Imex knights and several armor pieces, some were beyond repair but I did manage to save many of them, most of the parts were still there, so I spent some time cleaning and repairing these guys, many kits built in the past were noticeably missing, I don't know what happened to them.

4) Built my first ever diorama, it is of an old Wells Fargo stagecoach kit, I created some desert scenery complete with cactuses and rocks and stuff, I think it turned out real well for my first attempt, and the unusual subject matter was cool too,

5) Revell '64 Impala Lowrider, I decided I was going to super-detail this car, pulling out all the stops and experiment with everything I had ever read about detailing cars, I ordered photo-etched details, plug wires, engine hoses, after market gold spoked rims, added speakers to the rear deck, used aluminum tubing for scratchbuilt exhaust, fabric interior, glass finish and you name it.
After spending a couple of months on this I wanted to do something that I could build more quickly and actually complete in reasonable time, (I spent more time planning and brainstorming than actual building on this Impala) therefore the lowrider has been put on hold, although it is over 50% complete, the other 50% will have to wait, should be awesome if I ever finish it.

6) Academy's 1/35 M12 155mm Self propelled gun, just finished this one up last week.

It doesn't really seem like a lot, but I have other hobbies too, so I guess it was an okay year, I like to take my time when I build anyways, plus I worked more overtime this year than I ever have in my life.
Just started Trumpeter's 1/35 SA-2 Missile on transport trailer, looks like this one will last well into the first quarter of 2005.

Lean year for me. I built :

Tamyia 1/48 P-47D
Tamia 1/48 Corsair A1
Tamyia 1/48 Dinah

Got most of a P-61 finished. I will finish it some time...hopfully int the next year. Started a Tamyia Stug III. Also started a Hasawaga 1/48 Jill but I don't know if I will ever get it finished as goes for the 1/72 B-25.

I guess I had more starts and buys than finishes this last year. Something I hope to change in the new year. I am wanting to cut down on the number of unbuilt kits I have. If that is really possible since I seem to buy two for every one I finish. But who knows we will see.
