What would like to model that isn't your specialty

I'm an armor modeler, but would one day love to build a Spitfire. I've been scared off by the cammo scheme and the washes in the panels. After reading some of the forums, I hope to build one somewhere in the future. What would you like to do, but haven't for one reason or another, gotten around to building one?

Some day I'd like to build a ship again. The H.M.S. Victory to be exact. Built it many years ago when my skill level wasn't anywhere near what it is today.

I have been an automotive-only modeler but I recently stumbled across this site:

and it really got me thinking that I would like to try my hand at a figure, not to mention a resin kit at that, which I have never done before either.

I don't build ships, but I'd like to do that Tamiya Fletcher in 350th. Maybe even some of their battlewagons. And the Trumpeter flat-tops intrigue me as well...

I am an armor builder.
I would love to build aircraft but I just don't have the finesse to build them.
The last aircraft I built I had to put evergreen strips over the seems because I could not get the putty right.
One day I will get their though.

Aviation has always been the main thing for me, thought there are many things "d like to try in the scale hobby outside of aircraft.

I think right now a large scale figure is what I'd like to give a go at most, I've just got to find one that grabs my attention enough from the shelf or catalog that I know I'll see it through to completion.

I build A/C but I wish I could build armor. I work on a few others subjects, ships/sci-fi/car, all with good results. But armor is a skill I have yet to aquire. I build the odd tank or apc, but only for fun. I don't try to build to the level of quality of the a/c I build.

To nwilliams: at least you give it a try and don't take it seriously. Maybe my problem is I'm too vain and expect too much from myself. I think I just need to experiment and take baby-steps with modeling aircraft. Get my feet wet so to speak. And like modeling armor, take each new model to another level by incorporating some new technique that I have learned.

Anyhoo, another subject that I'd like to build which I normally don't is a figure. What's more, a sci-fi figure; There was a HUGE kit by Screamin' of Boba Fett. Not the PVC kit, the resin job. I'd like to try that one sometime...

I'd also like to try some of the Cheescake figures out ther. Have several but have yet to dive in...

I'd like to try armor. Maybe a German Tiger or Panther. The Tamiya M1 is interesting, too. My intrest is in WW II aircraft and ships, but I did build one Russian JS-II once fun. We'll see....

For awhile, I got away from plastic and went to wood. I've built a 1:75 Cutty Sark plank on frame model before. All 43" of her. My first and only one to date. It was fun, and very challenging. Amati is putting out a 1:250 Titanic that is also plank on frame that has drawn my interest.

In the end though, I just can't stay away from plastic kits. I just love'm. Blush [:I]

Robert: You want to build the H.M.S Victory ? You must know about Heller's kit, right ? It's plastic, and it's BIG. 40+", I believe. I have a wooden kit of Victory stored away that will be about 50" long when complete. I'm saving it for my retirement, as I figure that'll take about 5,000 hours to complete it. Wink [;)]

I have been building 1/72 A/C forever, but I would love to get into sci-fi modeling. If I can ever find a Space 1999 Eagle kit that is not too pricey I'll start there I think. Smile [:)]

I have always wanted to do a large sailing ship, something that would look nice over a fireplace. It's just I don't think I have the patience for something like that yet, kids have depleted enough for at least the next 10 years.

I usually build wooden ships, and am just now into my first scratch building effort in styrene, also a ship. I have another in the research stage.

I would like to do a couple of aircraft that mean something to me (I have one in a vacuform kit, more uncharted territory), and a car

I just found another non aircraft model I would like to build - a Revell 1/72 submarine kit. The ad said it was over 3 feet long! Now all I have to do is talk my wife into letting me display it on the fireplace mantel. Big Smile [:D]

I build aircraft, but throw in an occasional chopper and car. I would like to build a large modern aircraft carrier, such as the Tamiya kit. I don't know when I would be able to get around to building one though.

I would try a German Tiger tank and if I knew I wouldnt burn it in frustration, I would build the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) fully rigged.

My usual fare is starships and modern aircraft but I have my sights on some armor kits to build in the near future. I know I'll be in up to my neck but I'd like to build Trumpeter's new Faun SLT-56 tank transporter and a Leopard 2A5 for it to carry. It'll be a huge undertaking; the completed Faun is nearly two feet long...

I've been dying to take a crack at the Japanese battleship Yamato. The last ship I built was the US battleship New Jersey, back in 1980 or so.
I bought the Tamiya 1/700 waterline kit a few years back, but I'm thinking about doing the 1/350 full hull kit.
So many tanks in the closet, though...

I build ships and aircraft, but several years ago I buildt a Tamiya M1A1 Abrams. It came out okay, but I think I'd like to take a crack at a Tiger Tank, or maybe a Sherman. Soon.

I am going to try my hand at doing a Tamiya 1/12 Motorcycle kit. I have never done one and think it would be a nice change (not that I need one mind you Wink [;)]
