                        Mike-I was just talking to a friend who was in Vegas this past weekend-he lost $3000.00 in gambling! Said he had fun. Well to each his own but I could have lots of modeling fun for $3000.00

                        Ya got to just face the music??...... The day you decided that this hobby was for you, you fell into a bottomless pit, and there's no way out! We as modellers are doomed by the need to feed our appitite for materials, and of course more kits. Then you get into after/market stuff, and scratch building materials, and techincal books, and latest and greatest modelling gadgets, there's no end... but it still beats the hell out of hanging out in some bar, or stuffing $$$$ into some strippers G-string, as noted by one or two of you, myself included. Just make sure the bills are paid, and the little lady has some spending money of her own and you should survive this guilt trip. Semper Fi, Mike

                        I would, but she never spends any money on any of that! I can however nail her on computer components when she buys them, but she hasn't bought any new ones in years. What she has gotten were castoffs from her brother, and some good scores there were too. I can share her happiness at those scores, but she refuses to share mine when I score great deals on kits. Nowadays, we have an understanding: I can get whatever I want as long as she doesn't see it come in, so that's why I 'run' from her. She knows more models are purchased, but for her, it's "out of sight, out of mind".

                        Same here Don.

                        I have a wife that set herself up for failure in tracking my kit buying habits. When we bought our condo, she insisted on a two-bedroom place so I could have a hobby room to hide my collection. She didn't want to see it. As she never really goes in there (except to turn off lights and fan) she never sees what I have and what I've recently acquired. All I have to do is bring things in when she's gone or asleep and she never knows.

When I was in California for work I told my fiancee that I was going to the hobby shop there to get some paints for the two armor kits I took with me to pass the time away. Well needless to say after two kits, one decal set and one of those small paint sets from testors, the bill was 84 dollars. Do I regret it, no lol.

                        hahaha, I did that numerous times. But my girl's got some sharp eyes, she sees right away what changes were made on my shelves, n she does periodical checks in my toy collection closet as well... I am suspecting that she's secretly keeping a book on what I have...

                        Hello, my name is Joshua, I too have a problem collecting kits....

                        ...Honestly, I don''t think I'm too bad yet, but I've only been modeling for about 5-6 months now. I can normally walk out of the LHS without buying anything, but sometimes they have awesome 50% off sales and I can't resist. In fact, I'm a little spoiled, I hate paying full price for a kit.

                        Of course, I've been helping the economy by stockpiling kits I'll never get to for 6 years....

                        i do mostly mail-order so i have to somehow distract my wife when the delivery truck comes around the corner
                        but when the credit card bill comes in i have to listen only once a month to you,you,you,you,you,you

                        supplies are never a problem i even send her to the lhs

                        My girlfriend is very critical when I return from the LHS with new kit's. I really need a good story ("they where really cheap", "it's a very rare kit"etc.)
                        Buying supplies is never a problem. ("I needed this paint so I can start building, it wil make the stash smaller....")

                        I stopped in at the LHS this aft to see if some parts I ordered for my Badger 150 came in, and walked out with only $25 worth of paintbrushes, tools and paint.

                        I consider myself lucky it was only that much!

                        When I jokingly told the LHS owner "don't tell my wife I was here" he laughed and said he never sees anybody!

                        I used to walk into bars with the idea that I was just going to shoot a round of pool, and usually that didn't end well either. Banged Head [banghead]

                        My advice is to tell your wife that this model thing is 1) cheaper than drinking your paycheck and 2) at least you're at home on Saturday nights rather than deciding between another drink and another lap dance.

                        Failing that, I'd hide them among other kits.
