Is that still actual? I want to ask a question to those who have ordered these goods. Have you ordered to another country? Tell me roughly what duties are applied for international deliveries. And there should be some limit, below which no additional costs are applied, right? It is interesting to find out the delivery cost to worldpostalcode.com/united-states/florida/Miami. Who can help with this?

I've used great models once before and had no problem, only I had it sent via UPS and it arrived in a week... BUT, they charged a $30(cdn) service fee for clearing your item through customs Shock [:O]. For that kind of dough I can wait a couple of extra weeks. One of the items in that package though is some decals for a GB that ends this month so I'm hoping it shows up soon (not that anyone ever finishes a GB on time eh? Clown [:o)])

Razor, you could probably get a tracking number from Squadron and call the Post office. I did when I got impatient waiting for mine. That's how I know about the customs holdup!

I haven't tried Squadron yet, but Great Models were, well great to deal with. Once you get used to the length of time required to receive the kits. I bought only items that were in stock and on sale and saved oodles.

So long folks!

Dave-I had a similiar problem with Military Hobbies-I ordered a figure and it came via USPS. The postage was almost half the cost of the figure and it took a long time. So the customs thingie works both ways.

Bgrigg & trowlfazz Thanks guys, I know its not Squadrons fault, I have indeed been charged for the items so I know they are on the way. Must be stuck in customs like you said. I just hate waiting!

Razordws,

I ordered some models from Great Models and it took nearly 3 weeks to wend it's way through the postal system. Expect them momentarily. Apparently the route is to ship to Missisauga ON where it clears customs (eventually) before getting into Canada Post's hands. The hold up was almost entirely Customs as it took the US Postal system 3 days to get to the border and Canada Post 3 days to send to me in Kelowna. Sux to be Canadian sometimes.

Oh, and Canada Post will be dinging you some duty as well. I paid $22 CDN and change on a $180 CDN order.

So long folks!

Squadron does not notify you if an item is out of stock-you just don't receive it. Although your credit card is not charged until the items ship. I recently ordered 2 Pavla kits that never showed up even though I received a confirmation email for my order. As Robert pointed out, a shipping confirmation (like Amazon does) would be great but maybe Squadron does not that capability. Other than that, I think they're great.

I like your initiative Robert! The idea of anonomously reviewing and rating the custumer service dept.'s of various Internet hobby shops is a good one and I'm sure will be appreciated by many as these shops are gaining such a large market share of the industry.

I've had great cusomer service from Squadron myself when I dealt with them on a wrongly packed item I'd ordered (similar stock numbers). I found them to be friendly and prompt.

Cheers!

Hello,

I saw this topic, and thought I might chime on in this. I saw a post some time ago that put forth the idea of “secret shoppers” so that these web sellers could be rated. I think that is a great idea. Unfortunately, that great idea was never implemented, probably because websites do not want to be responsible for rating retailers who sponsor their sites.

Well, recently I took the idea and decided to do this myself. I am in the process of building my own, personal website as I type this, and several web sellers will be rated.

Let me preface this by saying there is no pickier customer than I. I look first at customer service, then quality.

I recently placed six orders with Squadron totaling about $500.00. I purposefully ordered three, $100 + orders for historical miniatures on separate dates, and on one order, I heavily duplicated items from a previous order. Then, I placed two smaller orders (under $100) for accessory items.

The results were excellent. I was actually called by a customer service representative to verify that the heavily duplicated items were indeed wanted. All of the $100 + orders arrived within five days and were 100% complete. One of the smaller orders (under $100) did have an error (wrong item), and in another order one item was out of stock.

To test them further, I waited approximately 45 days from the date the order was placed, and then asked to return several of the duplicate, unopened kits for credit. Note that this is past their 30-day return policy by about two weeks. I was told a return would be no problem at all. While I did not return the items (I had not intended to), I found it refreshing that Squadron was willing to accept a return like that, even though they had called and specifically asked me if I wanted those duplicate kits.

The one place I think they could improve is in their shipping. It would be great if they could find a way to automatically notify their customers when their order ships, and with tracking info. Otherwise, I would not change a thing.

Please understand, this is my opinion of Squadron. I am not an employee, and I do not know anyone that works for them.

I am currently working up other reviews, and I will be posting the URL to my website as soon as I finish.

Kind regards,

RM

I ordered some stuff on Aug. 27 and it still hasn't arrived! I'm starting to get a little steamed Angry [:(!] Had to us the post office cause Ups charges an arm and a leg to get stuff though Canadian customs. Don't know what the hold up is.

I'm in Philadelphia, and it's usually about 1 week, provided I select UPS or FedEx (I forget which one they use).

Haven't ordered for a while, but my experience with them (UPS delivery) has usually been 48 hrs or less! Looks like this may not be typical. It must help to live in the same state.

I'm in Wisconsin and it took about a week to get 2 kits.

Not to bad IMHO.

I order on line using a credit card. It usually takes four business days to get the items. A replacement part sent to me arrived in three days.
