How long to build your entire collection?

Hmmmmmm..how old was Moses when he died? If I lived to that age range I MIGHT make dent in my collection.

Another thread on another forum here gave me an idea (very foolish one) to count my unstarted unbuilt kits. If I was to turn one out EVERY month I have over 40 years worth!!! And at my present rate of completion, FAR longer. Not counting figure sets or started uncompleted kits. Needless to say I am hoping for a long life to finish this stuff (although where to put them when done is already a major problem), and gonna have to get rid of some to justify any more purchases.

Oh the horror!

Compared to what I've seen some have in their stash, I don't think about 60+ models is much, but if I could build one per month it will take about 5 years. With my current building rate 20 years is more appropriate

At my current rate, somewhere near 15 years or so.  Of course that assumes that I never buy another kit, which is highly unlikely.

At the rate I'm going, I will be pushing up daisies before I get through half the stash. On top of which I just added 7 more kits to the stash today.

I haven't bought any new kits since the 70's except 1 new wooden ship kit 3 years ago, but, at the rate that I build, I will finish my stash in my 5th or 6th reincarnation. They were all saved for my "retirement". I retired in '98. Have less time to build now than I did when I was working. I think there is something wrong with that picture.

I have 2 kits in the stash, maybe one from ebay pretty soon. So figure four kits plus 3 that I'm working on. I would estimate 1 and 1/2 year to complete. Of course, depending on which kit it is, it might take me a month or it might take a year.

i am hoping to be able to get through build for the next 2-4 yrs before my muscles and eyes go bad

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but I got curious last night and added up what I have managed to accomplish in the two years I have gotten back into the hobby. Not too bad, really, but it is hard to fight the compulsion to buy yet another kit I will get to "someday." Two years of effort have yielded eight completed kits:

• 5 ships - 2 Victory-class cargo ships, 1 Liberty-class cargo ship, 1 Perry-class frigate and the USS Enterprise;
• 2 airplanes, 1 B-25B and 1 Fokker D VII;
• 1 car, a Willys Jeep, to go with the B-25.

As to what is in the stash ... I probably repeat to myself at least twice a day, "Must not buy more kits ..." and then see another one I just have to have, right now. So there are currently 4 ships, 6 airplanes and assorted detailing sets lying in wait and 1 ship kit on order ...
