When I first started building I would cut out the top of the box. These would eventually get trashed during our mandated bi-annual cleanings, (right after Christmas and when school let out in June.)
However, I now wish I would have kept many of the boxes from the late 50's and early 60's, especially the rocket/space models. I still find these inspiational to just look at and remember back when.

Since my last post I really messed up on Ebay.
I bid on what I thought was a model. Turned out it was just the box!!!
Fortunately, I lost the auction.
Since then I've taken more notice and am amazed at empty boxes going for $30 and up.
People actually pay money for empty boxes?
Typically mine get recycled or otherwise tossed. I keep leftover parts and instructions.

Really? People buy empty boxes? I'm going to have to dig out my stack of empty boxes and see what some of them are going for!
Check this one out. This one is only $10, $9 shipping.
The one referenced in my previous post went for $35. It was one of the Aurora monster models boxes.
