Demono is right, there is sucker born every second. Reminds me of Hotwheels on E-bay. I used to collect them. I watched in astonishment as bidders bid many times over value plus shipping, just so they'd be the first on their block to have a particular car. A month later they could have gotten it at retail. I'm assuming that kit will not get a buyer, but you never know.

My theory: If you can list a particular kit for several large bills, and somebody buys it, more power to you. That doesn't mean that I'm going to buy it, or that I'll sell anything for that amount. If somebody offers me that much, I'm not stupid.

Whenever a visitor eyes my collection of old toy soldiers or my vintage car the second or later comment is usually "what are they or it worth." I reply whatever you are willing to pay, easy to figure the cost of most anything.

If this thing sells for that price, Im thinkin I have a room full of kits I should be able to retire from. Lets see.... 1/48 monogram B-29...5k. Snap tight Ghostbusters ECTO 1...1k maybe, no, better go 2k, its still in cellophane wrap (without the little hole I might add..)

Do you know what is truly sad about this? If he sells it for this much, how many idiots will decide that their $5 kit is worth $50 or $500? How many people will put kits in garage sales that they would normally ask $1 for , for $10? This is truly sick!!!!

I got a theory - It ain't the subject of the model, its what the model costs is what is important to the buyer - two guys I know both bought different kits of the same model - one spent maybe 15 bucks on the kit and some styrene sheet - the other guy spent over a 100 bucks on his kit that had all kinds of whistles and bells - the first guy spent a lot of extra time modifying his kit while the second guy simply glued his together and painted it - guess what - you couldn't tell the finished products apart - but the second guy sure liked to brag about how much his kit cost.

I guess this shouldn't surprise us this much if you look at all the wierd transactions that happen on Ebay: Some guy actually put "nothing" on ebay, seriously, nothing! Somebody bid fifteen bucks on it! Somebody sold a 7" french fry for a truckload of dough once.

I keep an eye on the antique lure section from time to time... a topwater bait ('around 6 inches long) sold for $75,000 with hundreds of bids. You thinks that's insane? It was relisted a few days later and sold for $85,000! 10 grand profit in a week! Not bad.

Goes to show, you gotta be rich to make money in this country. Tongue [:P]

I think if I were to spend that kind of money on a kit , insurance would not be a problem as I would be going to pick it up first hand in my Gulfstream.

I'm sure some poor sap is thinking that this is the one to have of all the models in the world. Sellers be fair then let the buyers fight for the item. If this guy had this kit as a kid then we all know that he never played with his toys.

So here, I think, is our dilemma: Should we email the guy and give him a clue, or should we just wait out the bid and see if there are any takers?

Man, I gotta say that some people have more money than sense.
Yeah, it might be nice to have, and even (maybe) to build and display, but a starting bid of $25,000? Gimme a break. I'd rather set my hair alight and put it out with an icepick.
I remember having and making quite a few of those old "Dungeon Series" Aurora kits when I was a kid........the Rack, the Pendulum, the Guillotine.........my Mum thought they were morbid (but bought them for me anyway) but I had fun with them - the innocence of childhood.
I'd like to have them now, if only to build them to look real.
