John writes, “This is my build of the old AMT/Ertl 1/94 scale Snap-Tite “Star Wars” B-wing Fighter. I took some artistic license with the markings and weathering; the markings came from a leftover World War II Japanese aircraft decal sheet. The weathering is a combination of airbrushed reddish/brown acrylics, artist’s oil washes, and pastel chalk trailing back from the panel line leading edges.” John added photoetched-metal mesh behind the intake and exhaust housings to mitigate the see-through nature of the fuselage. “I also did some minor detailing around the wing hinges,” he says. “The wings are designed to fold, but I glued them in a fixed position and covered- up the hinges.” He painted with varying shades of gray acrylics.
