Mike Walston

Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Mike scratchbuilt a gadget from the Search TV series that premiered on NBC in 1972. The sci-fi detective show focused on agents of the World Securities Corporation looking for everything from diamonds to people to moon rocks. The main high-tech gadget they use, the Scanner, is a small camera with a sensor array that has a magnetic base so it could be worn on a necklace, ring, or tie tack. Mike created his Scanner with a copper casing. He designed circuitry details on his computer and engraved a chrome aluminum plate using a CNC machine.
