Kitbashed MH-60S

Hey-

Here are some pics of my latest project.  I built a 1/72 MH-60S.  I used an Italeri UH-60A with some parts from a Hasegawa SH-60B with a few scratchbuilt details.  I made most of the decals for it, but some were used from the Seahawk kit.  It represents a MH-60S from HSC-28 "Dragon Whales" during a detachment to the hospital ship USNS Comfort.

Thanks for looking,

 Phil

Great work Phil!

I'm looking at doing the 8-Ballers CAG bird in 48th.  Other than the control panels, what are the interior differences between the A/L and the S?

Hey-

Thanks, it was a fun build.  I think the interior differences are not very many between the L and S.  That being said, I'm no expert on the L.  The Italeri kit is pretty bare inside, so I just used my Sierra references to add some interior detail.  Good luck with your CAG bird, post pics!

I am not a utility guy, but the big cockpit difference on the UH-60 A/L/S interiors are the addition of glassing the cockpit. The A had no glass instrumentation, the L has some and the S pretty much went to entire glass instrumentation if I remember correctly. My only reason for my interests in the UH-60 was my dad was one of the original developers of the specs for the then UTAAS helicopter that became the Blackhawk. When I was finishing flight school they were just beginning the fly-off evaluation between the Sikorski and the Boeing version. The Boeing was the better of the two, but it was Sikorski's turn in the contract barrel to get a contract. I hate politics. :-)

Btw; Great model build Phil, I plan on building one eventually, but I am into the earlier helicopters currently. Hopefully, I will get to one in a year or two.
