When you get to the end, pay attention to the direction of rotation of the forward and aft rotor heads... Many people get this wrong

I believe Italeri is supposed to re-issue their 1/48th CH-47D soon. Cybermodeler has been showing it as a re-issue for a couple of months.

I inquired with Italeri...they said "early 2018"...which could be Jan...or may...depending on what "early" means to them!

I have moved on and started on the 72nd kit.

Nevermind....got an email from them that basically said.."sorry kid, you're out of luck".

Angry

No joy on the 47C either, or the HC-1(which has the proper blades, for a D).

I wish that I had seen this about 7 hours ago... I was there and could have checked up to confirm... let's just say that the daytime staff I ran into today is not their A team for modelers... they are more or the gamers side of the shop...

Yeah I had a 1/48 CH-46, in fact I think I gave it to you.

Thing was huge.

There was a forum member back when named Old Hooker.

Yes sir....one of these days....one...of...these...days!!!

Dunno that I'd call it huge...maybe petite, for big chopper!

So, there is no joy to be had for finding this kit. I did find one that was actually available, on some site in the UK...for a mere $130+ USD...plus shipping. No thanks!

I contacted Italeri, and the kit is being repopped, and due in the US market early next year.

Going with 1/72Cool

Peruse your local HobbyLobby to check their stock.  IIRC, the one near us had one for a while.  Then, wait for one of their killer '40% off' coupons and pounce!

I don't have one all that close (35-40 mins away), and given what their selection has been for the last decade or so, I highly, HIGHLY doubt that Hobby Lobby is going to be the place I'll find a kit that can't simply be found anywhere else.

checked my stash, sorry, no 1/48 chinook.  I do have 1/72 CH113 and a CH-46D. Same family of chopper if you do not have any luck anywhere else.

Thanks for checking...appreciated!Toast

I have a 46 that I built for another very good friend of mine that was also a crew chief on the Phrog (he's now "chiefing" the V-22).

I still can't believe that there is not a 47D to be had. I thought the "dust bin" intake filters would have been harder to track down...those were a piece of cake...and ordered.

I have found 47D kits in 1/700, 1/350, 1/144(all way too small!), 1/72 and 1/35...but have not found the "dust bin" filters in 72nd or 35th....only in 144th and 48th.

I did contact Italeri...but being Sunday, I'll hafta wait.

As far as I'm concerned, the Chinook is an icon of helicoptery...not quite up there with the Huey, but not all that far behind!

Without doubt the first two that always pop in my head. I think I'm gonna look around for some build logs of one of those big kits.

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:

Yes it means a lot...

fuggeddaboutit...

That's really what I meant!!!Tongue Tied

What I'm finding is...Italeri is the only game in town...Revell reboxed it as the British HC-somethin or other...but it's basically a C model.

It kinda amazes me that there's not a few options (several companies) readily available. As far as I'm concerned, the Chinook is an icon of helicoptery...not quite up there with the Huey, but not all that far behind!

I know the 1/35 and 1/72 are available all day long. I never thought a 1/48 Chinook would be a hard to find item. Squadron may be the only route to go...I have their "20% off your order" email, for this weekend.

If they actually have it. I found it through google images....but when I was on Squdron, nothing came up through their "search".

Edit...found the Squadron one again...."in stock soon"...which doesn't mean much.
