Cobra Company Ch-47A upgrades?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 8:14 PM
I know the "Chief Snake" pops on here from time to time. Has anyone heard anything about an upgrade set for the Trumpeter kit? I would rather use a resin cockpit set and apparently some interior detail are missing as well. Something similar to the MI-24 set they put out. I'm sure most of the upgrades would be universal from the A-D models.

Actually, the biggest interior differences occured with the D models. The hydraulics, drive train, and transmission oil cooling systems were all just about identical on the As,Bs, and Cs. In the cockpit there were some minor avionics changes, but the biggest visual difference came when the engine condition levers were moved from the center console on the As, Bs, and Cs to the overhead panel on the Ds.

Externally of course the aft pylon and aft landing gear, addition of strakes on the ramp and ventral area of the aft fuselage and engine cowlings changed from A to B and C, probably the most significant difference with the advent of the C was the number of fuel cells, (six rather than two) which gave the aircraft more range.

As with any helicopter the limiting factor on the CH-47 series has always been the transmissions.

I am sure the Chief Snake is working on correction sets for this model as we speak, I also suspect Eduard is at work with some goodies for us as well. Big Smile [:D]

Jon,

I didn't realize you were in Youngsville!  You should come to one of our local Model Club meetings in Lafayette.   E-mail me or call, I'm in the "book", live on Brentwood Blvd across Johnston from Alesi's Pizza.  I'm home until Tues. then back offshore for a week.

Clear Left!
