Cobra Company suspending operations
Posted by Chief Snake on Friday, April 27, 2007 2:30 PM

Sadly, Cobra Company will be suspending all casting operations effective May 1, 2007. The current year has been dismal for business and the last two months have been in the red- not enough income to cover expenses. In stock items will ship until exhausted and the new production items such as the CH-47D sets, M-6 weapons set, 1/72 scale Mohawk series, HH-65 interior set have been shelved. RTV is not available through our supplier and resin is nearly gone so we are between a rock and a hard place. This is the absolute worst year we have ever experienced and we have no idea why. So until something can be figured out we'll have to shut down.

Thanks for all the past support!

Chris, sorry I haven't been able to provide you with any business this past year; I'm still 'in-works' on the H-53 gearboxes and other components. Hope things turn around for you--please keep us all posted as to your status.

Oh my gosh! This is no good.
I just ordered & received 3 detail sets for my AH-1Gs, too. Magnificent work.
I hope things work out, Chief. Cobra Company is a godsend to the helo community.

Hope you can get things back on track, because you have a great line of parts.

Terrible news, Chief Snake.  I've heard nothing but glowing reviews of your products, and had been planning to purchase some of them when "I got around to" several kits in the stash.

Unfortunately, I'm still in the unpacking process in my new digs in Quantico, so all buying and building is on hold right now.

I hope to see a post from you down the road saying the production lines are up and running again.  I know there are a lot of builders that love your work!

 Hang in there.

Folks have been asking why..... I don't really know yet. It's your money, what is keeping you from spending it? Fuel prices are going goofy but Oil Company profits are at record highs, energy costs (electricity) are rising rapidly due to deregulation in certain areas. Lots of places in the world are suffering natural disasters or internal wars and need help. Sounds reasonable to me.

Absolutely! I placed a $160.00 order today.

How many times have we all seen people go on and on about the latest kit about to be released? Then b-tch and moan about it when it finally comes out. The same people beg for aftermarket items and make big claims about how they are going to support whoever decides to invest their time, effort and talent into providing accurate corrections, then raise h-ll when a "quality" three dimensional conversion/correction set comes out because it's too expensive.

I am surprised the cottage industries even bother.

Amen to that!  Come on guys!

We CAN help here.  Keep ordering! I've got 3 more sets that I'm gonna order this week (after I get paid of course!).  Between here, ARC and HKN, I really hope we can make a difference!

Jon

PS.  Thanks Chris, for all you do!

I got my 1/35 NTS upgrade and 1/48 XM-23 (M-60) door gun sets in the mail today (Saturday).

I should have my 1/48 HH-60J Jayhawk set and 1/35 XM-23 Door Gun set early next week.

It appears from what I've read recently, some items are out of stock already.

There seems to be quite a number of orders going to Cobra Company from what I'm seeing here on FSM, at HKN, and ACR. As Jon says, between the three sites maybe all of us can keep the rally going and make a difference. I don't think anyone is about ready to jump off of the ledge here, we're all just trying to help.

Chris

I just got back in and read this thread, Ive been "out" of the active helo community for about 18 months now, sitting on a bunch of your sets that I have been accumulating. Actually the last order I made from ya was for the Hind F model set so that was a while ago.  Heading over to your site now and sending cash your way! Your product is simply too good to let slip by and we have always needed your support and contribution to this community.

Chris,

That's terrible news.  I just got my NTS set, and it is superb.  I agree with the rest of these guys.  If we rally enough, maybe we can help this gentleman save his business.  Besides, he does what a lot of other resin companies don't: keeps his stuff in production for more than two or three months.  I am sending over an order right now.  I only wish that I had more money to spend, but I will do what I can to help.

       Good luck, Sir!

Chris,

I'm very new to modelling, but since I am a Huey nut and I have heard nothing but good things about your products, I just placed an order for several of your Huey upgrades.  I hope it helps.  I guess some times you have to put your money where your mouth is to keep this hobby going!
