You are probably right.  I like the look of them and they give you a little more room to peer in through.  Oh well, that is how they are.

Not sure why he isn't stopping in.  He usually does.  He has been active on ARC's Helo Forum as recent as today.

All the UH-60 kits out there have advantages and flaws. How you view them depends on your intimacy with real thing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. Each kit has negative buildable issues just as each kit has positive detail aspects. All of the available after market options offer you ways to meet the expectations you may have in accuracy. They aren't required at all, but that's again how easy you are to accept the kits basic limitations or omissions. Personal preference for many is the guiding choice, and each of us has different means of making choices. If you have a specific question about a specific kit, many of this forums' readers have exposure enough to answer your questions. It's difficult to answer a blind question in any case, so a little forethought will give a better chance at getting a useful answer.

Those H-60's all look great. But, I don't remember the cockpit doors swinging out that wide. It might be the angle I'm looking at it, but I that I remember, they opened a little less than that.

The Academy 1/35 PaveHawk model is an MH-60G, HH-60G is the current designation for them.  The name kept changing from MH to HH and back and forth a few years ago when control of USAF SAR assets kept swinging from Air Combat Command (ACC) and Air Force Special Ops Command (AFSOC).  It is a good early to mid-'90s version straight out of the box.  I took one and added a bunch to it to make it into a 2003 HH-60G from Davis-Monthan AFB in OIF 1 with a unique 3-tone desert camo (about the same as DCUs).  I completed it in March of this year.

Yes, I did do a search through the forums for Blackhawk (not Pavehawk) and although there were hits, most from several years back. Nothing from this year! I found that pretty surprising. so obviously no new kits for a while. A nice new Dragon PE kit like the UH-1D would be nice :)

I didn't realise the flood of Huey threads was a recent development. The Huey threads are great, with the reference pics etc.

Screaminghelo, so the UH-60L is A+, but the UH-60 DAP and HH make better L's. Which model is the HH that you haven't seen? Is that a HH-60 Pavehawk or Seahawk or something? And you can make a good L Blackhawk with it?

I may be an "old" Huey CE but still like the Black Hawks and have 2 of almost every kit in 1/35th and 1/48th scale.  One of my buddies in in a Cav Unit in Iraq right now and I asked him to send me some detail pictures of their Black Hawks with the sand filters.  Buck used to be in the 160th SOAR, D Troop a few years back when we first met online.  He came to one of the 174th AHC Reunions in 2003 and we had a few beers together.  Now, my Gunner from Nam is still in the LA National Guard and they had UH-60's for a few years before "911" and then ended up with Hueys again and he loves the Huey!  He nicknamed his Black Hawk "Crash Hawk" because it was down more than up!  Mike was CE on one of the first two Hueys on station in New Orleans Tues. morning after Katrina. Got a bit off topic, but hope to make a nice collection of the Black Hawk family one of these days!   

I loved working on the real deal, but last time I tried to put a model together was maybe 10 years ago. I got fed up with a 1/48 scale that just didn't seem right from the get go. I got halfway and lost interest. I see there are some that seem people like alot, but since, I only build 1/72 scale 'Nam stuff. Maybe someday I'll pick one up and make my old bird

I'll correct FSM's profile of Sal. He posted last on March 19. Still, that's 5 months. 

I work on Hawks every day and I have to second wooty's opinion.  While you can find faults and omissions in these kits, they are VERY well done.  Just remember that the UH-60L kit is an A+, the DAP can be made into a better L OOB.  I haven't seen it but the HH may even make a better L than the L kit.

If you have questions, this is the place to find answers.  If you can't find what you need in the archives a short post will get you more than enough info.  There are quite a few people here that have first hand knowledge.

I'll second chopperfan! There is tones of Blackhawk stuff and posts on FSM.

As for the kits MRC Academy put out three quite good kits my favourite being the one they lable AH-60L. All are in 1/35 and build into good looking helos, and if ya wanna spend the extra on Eduard or Cobra Co details and corrections they just turn into extra special builds and i think the deatil sets are worth getting.

Dont know much about any other scales 'cause i mainly build 1/35!!

The Huey threads have just started in recent months. Gotta love 'em!!
