First let me say that this is amazing. I can not think of enough superlatives to describe how good I think this is. Bow [bow] This is an example of what I would consider as work by a master modeler. Make a Toast [#toast]

Thanks, MKelley...

Are you reading this Hammer? I guess this answers your question in a separate thread about the "Master" title...just kidding of course, but it does feel nice when one appreciates your work!!!

Hopefully my next one will outdo this effort...

Looks great, Manny! The scene just sucks the viewer in. I felt like I had just walked up on something I should not have seen and wanted to duck around the corner or something. Well done!

Manny, another exceptional piece of workBow [bow]. You've done a fantastic job on those Tamiya figures. And that wagon.... WOW!

Thanks also for including the period photos. The third one with the GI in the cammo has gotten my wheels turningTongue [:P].

Thanks for the kind words---glad you like it....

The GI in the camo is most likely a soldier from the 2nd (I believe it was the 2nd) US armored division, which briefly experimented w/ camo uniforms about the time of operation "Cobra"...they didn't last long as they resembled too much the German SS in the area who also wore camo (primarily from Das Reich and GvB)...by this stage of the war camo was too much associated w/ SS soldiers...

I had read about that camo problem, ending with a lot of casualties from friendly fire. I have a few Warriors figs in the ill-fated camo pattern, and  I have plans for depicting one of those moments.  Dio idea #102,503.

Again, excellent work on the piece, and kudos for the photography.

Had to dip in again to view the Dio and read the inevitable kudos!

Great ideas about the added gravel and stray straw bits! Funny thing is.....viewing the scene makes like a mental snap-shot where tiny details aren't taken in......pure drama, shock and excitement!

The new details can only enhance things!

Manny

Once again, let me say how much I enjoy this dio.  Really, this is just a great piece of work.  I have returned to the thread a half dozen times to pour through it...  Simply awesome...

You captured the tension of the moment beautifully!!     One can almost imagine the things going through their minds, as minutes start getting longer!

    Great assembly coverage!

WOW. Very dramatic scene. The narrative is quite strong and I agree the last man signaling a halt really helps draw the viewer in. Poor sap was in the wrong place at the wrong time and on the wrong side :(

Great job!

Manny - you alluded to this being entered in the Atlanta contest - how'd you do?

I would go through this to tally up all of the "figure painting toot requests" but it would take a while, and I don't have my calculator. Wink [;)] It would be awfully cool if you did it - AND sent it in to the magazine. I don't remember the last time there was a figure painting article in there...maybe I just missed it?

I entered three...and, no, the competition was good, but I wouldn't call it freakin' stiff...lol...that's what my rant on the "AMPS Atlanta" thread discussed...
