Mini Dio (3rd Dio)

I built this Tamiya M151A2 sometime in February of this year. However, as typical of my early works, I did not use any weathering on it. Last Saturday, I picked it up and repainted and weathered it a bit. It looked rather better Shy [8)]

that I decided to make a small dio with it. So I thought of doing a dio of Phiippine Marines on recon. Of course, in truth the Philippine Marines do not operate the type but I did not care. With an extra figure (Dragon paratrooper) I went on to build this small or mini dio. Big Smile [:D]

As usual everything aside from the jeep and the figures is scratchbuilt.

Derek: It is actually a banana tree. I used some leaves of the artificial flowers of my wife (the leaves are a bit grass like and long). I cut them to size and shape and painted them.

Looks great Dwight. Wish the palm tree with my M151A2 dio came out that good. Nice ground work to I must say.

Very very nice. I am toying with a small scale Dio myself. What scale is it??? The face of the soldier on the ground looks very detailed to me but the front of the jeep makes me suspect it is smaller than 1/35 as well as the grass type stuff

Airbrush: It's 1:35 scale. I don't have anything else for the grass except for the artificial foliage I bought some months back. I must admit that it looked small for a 1/35 dio. Thanks.

Very nicely done. The foliage really adds a realistic feel to the scene.

wow! nice work dwight, i wish i already have your talent, hehehe u can make dio on the spur of the moment. any is oil paints a good alternative to the hobby or mr. color paints? this two paints are expensive and i'm already looking for alternatives. or any other cheaper but quality brands, tnx

Excellent, Dwight! Great weathering and great foliage.
Will the real leaves stand the test of time? I guess if you paint them, it kind of preserves them, yes?

that's another fine dio u've come up with there... i always look forward to ur posts, and that's a spankin' banana tree ....

1 tiny suggestion, if i may b so bold ?
maybe hit the grass with a couple of slightly different shades of green from ur airbrush 4 a liltle variation in shading ?

anyhow, it looks terrific !!

J-Hulk: The leaves are artificial and made of somekind of rubber so I think it will last. Thanks.

Jedi-mike: This time I just used tamiya acrylics. Yeah your right. Mr. Color is expensive. I have not yet used it actually.

Frosty: Good suggestion. Actually there is already some shading but I guess the light drowned it. But no problem, I can always add some more shades. Thanks for the tip.

Nice little dio Dwight.
I,m a bit of a dummy when it comes to U.S armour so I,ve got some questions.
1)What is the equiptment in the back (is it some sort of recoiless gun )?.
2)what era is it from.?
3)Is the Jeep what they call a "Mutt" ?.
I,d like to do some U.S stuff & maybe incorporate it into one of my German armour dio,s.
