The Armor is great Huxy and the ground work is awsome...the only thing I am missing is the tracks that the tank is leaving...I always put them in first because they are chewed in to the bare dirt..then add grass, shrubs ect...looking good!

Huxy, first suggestion; grow that hair! lol!

I think your base looks great! The only thing I would recommend--partly because you really dont have rooom for much else--is something on the ground like some litter, or something like a milk can or something that looks like it was discarded along the way.A road sign might be cool, too, nailed onto a post?

Not too much you can do, because with a figure in there--which I absolutely agree would be cool--there isn't much more room to put something in and not make it look just cluttered up.

Nice job, though! And a smart purchase, that Optivisor!

Stern0: Thanks!  I won't start doing major changes in it, but I'll see if some pigments can make it like dirt, so you can see it has been driving to the spot..

Ok, changed title now..  Haven't got the exact title on the diorama yet.. but that'll come!

So, this Plusmodel watercan is included in the Plusmodel Allied fuelstock, or something.. My dad gave me some from the pack he didn't need..

This watercan is also my very first try at resin and my first thing I paint overall in metal colour...

The photoetch part and the brass wire was included with the set.  I apllied them, and made them look old and weared. The handle, I bent as good as perfect, and it did hurt my heart to go crazy on it...

I did also dip the thing in hot water and bent the nozzle on it, and a little on the top edge. I also drilled out a little more of the inside, but not too much..  Then I painted it overall with Citadel Boltgun Metal, applied a black wash, and highlighted with Citadel Mithril Silver.

Well, here comes four picture ofa very woody update..  That is the pole and the sign itself.

First,  I take a 1mm thick plastic sheet and cut it like a sign, primed it and painted it Vallejo Duff:

Then applied oilpaint:

This is without doubt the best wood I have created so far.. This diorama..or vignette is turning out good!

Then I took 4 matchsize stick, and glued them togheter like a thick long square. Then I filed them thinner and round, and did the same and glued ontop to make it longer. And I cut some of the top to make it shorter. But longer than just one match.. 

Then I applied some oilcolour...

And this is how it will be displayed:

Comments, help, critisism, opinions and questions is highly appriciated in my first diorama! Or was it a vignette........

The technique is pretty straightforward and very simple..  I had big troubles painting wood myself until I learned this technique. I tell you what, I'll write up a tutorial on the technique when I get home (Mediaschool right now....). All you need is a brush, oilpaint (I think it was burnt umber..) and a sand yellow or similar.

If you don't have oilpaint, well... I picked up a set at an artstore for cheap.. No, it wasn't even an artstore. It was one of these cheap, everything-selling stores..  So you don't need any real "quality" oilpaints. Mine has worked very well!

So get ready to paint wood!!

 I haven't had time to do anything more, but will make the pole look a bit better, cover that blue line along the edge of the diorama, see what and how I can write on the sign, and wait for the figure to come in the mail...

Well, back to the diorama, chaps!  Got some good news aswell!

The parsel arrived today. Way before I actually thought it would arrive. Awsome!

It included one plane, one paintpot and this set, which I ordered for this diorama:

The only way to check if things fit, is to cut of the legs and torso and testfit..

A slight issue, so I had to cut the right leg at the knee and re-position it slighty, in order for it to look better. This was my first "frankensteining" ever! You can still see the putty here. This picture was taken before I started sanding, which I did earlier this morning  

All in all, a very succesful frankensteining, in my opinion!

The correction on the figure looks good Huxy!  What brand of putty do you use, as i need some for the white metal figures I'm ordering.

Tacobuff: I simply used the Tamiya Basic Putty, the same I use to fill holes.  My process of the changing was first to cut the foot in two. Then I drilled a hole at approx. the same place in both parts, and glued them by superglue togheter with steel wire. Leaving a slight gap. Then I bend the foot into position, and take a drop or two of superglue in the gap that is left. When it dries, I fill and file!

Ok, got some work done on the face of the commander..  The face isn't the best one I've worked with, and it didn't turn out as my best either. I'd say mainly because it was a badly sculpted face, but from a distance it do look good. Do remember, again, that the camera do blow this up into a very big size!

Here's the first step. Basic fleshtone with a fleshwash:

Then a little bit further:

He doesen't look all that bad in my opinion.Not when I look at the face with my own two eyes, that is

Further up was the uniform. And as everyone should know, even black has it's higlights. Look at something black (Clothing preferably) and you will see that the thing is not entirely pure black, but very light grey on the edges aswell... So, for a start we hit the uniform overall with black:


We then give him a lighter shade:

DONE! That was 5-6 coats all in all. Just 4 pictured however! Here you also see a little painting of the medals:


To give him some colour (And he won't look so monotome) I'll give him a white shirt:


Just the shirt is of 3 diferent shades. I'll apply a fourth when I get home again.

Now, the belt. Again, to give some colour, I'll give him a brown leather belt. I just can't stand a one monotome colour on figures


That is just the first layer. But then I ran out of time and had to go to school...
That's modelers.. Modeling the few minutes he has before he goes to school!

Because you have that bit of extra space around the edges (and the front by the sign post), you might even be able to put in a standing figure, either looking in the same direction as the one you just painted (like they’re both looking at/remaining about the same object “off scene”), or perhaps looking at your current figure as if he was lounging on the tank and telling the standing figure a story or something like that.

Glad you can find the time even before school!

I doubt it'll be an award winning diorama, but we'll see next year!

And you are right about the extra space.. Let me look a little bit more into it

So here's another update...  The figure is closing to an end, just need to get the arms painted. I've already started on them, but just fixing the mouldline and such.. And glued them to poles. So priming is next!

And with the head! Wohoo! Doesen't he look excellent where he sits!?

I still have to touch up where head meets torso, but that will come.. Here is a closeup. That little band there, symbolizing the iron cross, was hard to paint. First I even painted it wrongly with white inside and red outside. Heck, I even painted with reference, but I guess I was just blind.. But it is now fixed.

Also, those skulls on the collartab was very hard to paint...
