GRIM, WATCH OUT!!!!  ..... oh, sorry .... I thought that someone was lobbing grenades at your workbench. My bad... HAHAH!!!! Dont' worry, I really thought it was a picture of my bench ....

Your figures ARE looking good! I really like your crew serve gunner and his "swinging" ammo belt. That's a nice touch. Your weapons look nice too.

Ha Ha! My workbench always looks like that! i have 2 tables and a couple of benches full of kits and crap. i'll post a couple of pics up!

Thansk for the comment about the weapons. I always try and make them look real. I miss working on my real ones heaps!

Thanks camo! I prefer humbrol paints as i have used them since i started modelling. Great for brushing and airbrushing as well.

I used clay as i wanted a clay/brick look to the kerb, and had some lying around, that way i can chip/break them when it has hardened. Just something else to experiment with!

yep i agree about the paints...(love them for everything). that really is a good idea about the kerb (curb) and i just may borrow it down the line. i made mine out of styrene and lets just say it wasnt the easiest to cut/break "pieces" off!! but i like the clay idea alot!! and work benches...lol...i always clean mine then over time i work myself to the edge because i have all this crap lying around (paint etc). it slowly pushes me off my table until i have no choice but to clean it!! Haven't done that! but have mixed parts from different kits, only to use parts from a 3rd or 4th kit as wel, then when back to the original kit wondering where all the parts went!

Hello all. Not much to update, got the plaster poured for the sidewalk and building base. Mainly working on the figures, using bits from 4 kits! will have around 6 to 8 figures in it.

Thought i would post a few pics of my work area though!

Oh, don't worry. I know that's not my space .... oh sure, I had to really study the picture hard, but when I noticed I couldn't find my life-sized cut out of Princess Laya, I knew it wasn't mine.

Hey Grimmo-  just a quick question, was the plaster going into the voids of the sidewalk you made from clay? Your figures and your base are looking great so far, I too like the look of the ammo belt, camo's got a pretty good match for that off green/tan color on the desert BDUs as well Thumbs Up [tup]

Yes. The plaster is in, and has been surfaced. Working on the figures now, and they are ready for paint. Not looking forward to doing MARPAT!

The other figures were done ages ago, and wont be used for this dio.

Oh I see- well good luck to you, I haven't done it in 1/35 yet, I've heard of everything from painting with toothpicks, to MCs block pattern work on his 120mm Flash Out build and that came out great, be open to experimentation I suppose

Cheers Ark. I got the 2 'hawks cheap, as they have been partialy started, but will wait until i have a heap of space and some cobra coy. stuff for them. I am looking forward ro building them! You did a great job on yours!

MC: the 240B comes in the Hobby Fan kit AVFHF048 Modern US Equipment and Weapons set. Comes with a M4, M16A2, and a M249. The HF 240B is the only 240 out there with the foregrip/heatshield on it. I wish there were more in the kit, as i need another 4 for a few dio's! (and i'm not very good at casting weapons!)

camo: Just primed the building and the base, will post pics up soon. I still need to drill some holes to place the figures, thats why the building hasn't been glued on yet. The SAS kit have been sitting there for ages, and have been wanting them for an aussie dio. I just bought another SAS kit the other day which i wont be needing now!

For the M-240, I added some strip styrene that I drilled out for the airguard.  I can't remember what the size of the drill + styrene was though, but I could measure it.  Not sure how it matches up with the resin ones, but it may be a more cost-effective option.

DAAAAAANG! That guy's got to have 33" biceps to sit there with a 240!!! HAHAHA!!!! Looks good though.

Grim - Thanks for the heads up on the 240. I'll have to procure that kit. I need another M4 anyways. Casting 1/35 weapons is really hard to do. The ONLY way that I've been able to do it is to take the molds and leave them apart. Then, pour in a small amount of resin onto one half. Then, take the other half and press it down on top of the first mold half. You'll end up with a lot of flashing until you get a good feel for the right amount of resin to pour, but at least you're not wasting time and resin when you open a mold to find half a top receiver and that's it cause you couldn't get the bubbles out. (Of course, this is just my TX hill-billy way of casting 1/35 weapons cause I don't have a pressure casting set-up.)

HTH, thanks again for the 240B info!
