hey steven, first, thank about my mishap...but i guess it wouldnt be a build of mine without having them!!! Laugh [(-D]

second, hydrocal is mostly used for mm railroad stuff. it's usually with the scenic stuff. you can usually find it at your local hobby shop or an art store. it's similiar to plaster of paris in that its in powder form then you mix it with water and pour. (think big foot casts). runs about $7-$10 for a milk size 1/2 gallon carton.

i made the building using a few simple lego's and a plastic sheet of styrene on the bottom. no glue, no issues. just pour and wait over night for it to cure completely. the nice thing about the styrene (some people use glass) is it gives you that super smooth texture on one side. that's the side i used (on the outside) of my building. if you plan on making something showing the inside, you can always put a thin layer of spackling compound over the "rough/poured side. this is the first time i used it and got descent results. i mean i suppose if i wanted to i could get really detailed with say a ww2 european building or something. that would require making some molds first and im not going that route....(yet). Big Smile [:D]

Camo, I like your building and how it's painted. Sorry to hear about the mishap you had with the paint, but i'm sure it will be fixed easily.

Is Hydrocal like plaster of paris? If not how is it used and where do you buy it?

thanks chris, was going to link it but was already writting and my lazy brain did what it did! Whistling [:-^] Big Smile [:D] on an update note:

i have to repaint what you see there. unfortunately, i used floquil paints on this instead of my humbrols...my mineral spirits bath thing didnt go too well with them! Laugh [(-D] really just some minor touch ups but a little frustrating taking one step forward and two back!!! Whistling [:-^] will work on the figs today a bit (flesh) and whatever else the mood direction takes me today.

Here's the link- feel free to start whenever- finish whenever, post older finished builds- figures- anything modern! (Very informal lol not what I'd consider an "official" GB Whistling [:-^])

It probably could have been, it just started out me and my brother, the badge just caught on.. Blush [:I]

the base is about the size you would use for an armored build chris. no street, just some ground work and details! Wink [;)]

hey guys. finally doing something new. feels like it's been awhile and things have gotten kind of stale lately. they havent, just the way its been feeling for me lately.
anyway, this is going to be another vignette, 2 figures one building. the figures are taliban from warriors and the building, i made myself from hydrocal. my first one and i was experimenting a bit and seeing what i like about it! while its brittle, i added some spackling compound to it to make it less brittle and added strength. this is a wip and will be done in roughly a week or less. the only pics i have right now are of the building. thanks for looking.

sorry this one is blurry! but you get the idea.

enjoy and all comments and critiques welcomed!
