Ford Trimotor
Posted by el_jere on Friday, August 8, 2008 2:07 PM

Hi guys! after a long time I just finished my latest build: this is my Airfix 1/72 ford kit.

I usually build aircrafts in argentinean colours but for several reasons I change that a little:

1) I started this kit more than 3 years ago, and during the build I change my modelings subjets and never completed the model.

2) My dad bought the model for himself and was kind enough to give it to me.

3) I'm running out of argentinean kits and if I can't work on a model I can get crazy

4) mmm i´m not sure but there are more reasons.

The model was built o.o.b and some scratch built items were added, and some pieces were replaced, I still have to add some final details but the model is almost complete. I

wanted to keep it simple so I builded the kit in a few weekends evenings not worrying with the kit's problems but in the end I like the way the model looks in my display case next to my Ju-52 and W-34

I painted the kit using Alclad II chrome, yes I know it´s too shinny but I like that way. The kit decals were ruined so I sprayed a few coats of clear gloss and save them.

This isn't my best model but I like the results, and that´s the important part on modeling right???

I want to dedicate this model to my father and thank him for the "donation" of the kit hehehe

as usally any comments or critics will be wellcome, hope you like it

best regards

Great job!  That's a sharp-looking model, and I think your finish is just fine.

That's a fine build, and I love the chrome finish! Did you enjoy gettng the nacelles and the u/c to line up? I built one of these a couple of years ago, and this part of the build gave me no end of trouble.

Cheers,

Chris.

Jere! Long time no see! Glad you found something to do!Laugh [(-D]

Maybe you should have researched for some Argentine marking for freight or airmail companies. I bet there were some using that pretty old bird!

Nice job!Thumbs Up [tup]

Outstanding work Jeremias!  You know, last week at Oshkosh they had theirs flying every day giving out rides.  I can never believe how slow that thing flies! Big Smile [:D]

Well done, Jeremias!  Glad to see  you back in action again!  You are 100% correct, if it pleases you, then it is a good build!  I, too, like the shiny finish on this particular a/c, it seems more in character for the art deco era!  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys for your coments!

Chris: great model on your trimotor! and the lady in red is a great touch!

you ask me: Did you enjoy gettng the nacelles and the u/c to line up? hahaha I din´t!! I wish  to have 3 hands sometimes

namrednef: yes I haven´t much time to visit the forum but I allways take a look here to see the new works.

I haven´t found any information of trimotors of argentinean companys; in fact my original idea was to build it in the colours of the airplane involved in the death of the greatest Argentina´s tango singuer, Carlos Gardel but I haven´t found any info neither.

Daywalker thanks man! it´s cool you have the chance to see this links of old crows flying!! It must be a beautiful sight.

best regards to all!

Thanks, Jere!

She's supposed to be a stewardess - there are passenger and crew figures insiude the model. She started life as a Preiser 1/87 artist's model. The dress was made from pieces of Tamiya tape; orignially she was, er, nekkid! Shock [:O]

Cheers,

Chris.

Great looking tri-motor.  The finish came out superbly well.

Well done, Jeremias!!! It has a nice"used" look to it without being overdone. Great build of a classic, historic airplane.

Wow, Jeremias. She looks a Honey. Finish is fantastic (So's Chris's BTW) Did you have any issues with the decals over the corrugated wing panels? If so it doesnt show.

Very nice.
