Super detailing a Revell 1/72 EF-2000, have questions...
Posted by TheLastPriest on Sunday, June 14, 2009 8:34 PM

Good evening and happy Sunday to everyone,

I picked up the revell Eurofighter in  1/72 and the color zoom kit for it as it seems like the more cool details I have for a kit the more the fire to make an excellent model burns (I know I know scratchbuilding works just as well with none of the cost but darn it I like cool toys and those Eduard guys are just so much better then me at making them) my two questions are as follows..

 1) Has anyone used the Color zoom kit for the typhoon? There are two peices on the top of the seat that I am supposed to do something with but Eduards famously bad instructions are horrendous at explaining what and where the bends are supposed to be and what the final peice is supposed to look like. Pictures from someone who has done it would be fantastic (eduards site has pictures but not large enough to really tell) 1000 bonus ninja points to the first person who can provide me with some helpful shots

2) Anyone know of some other good detail sets for this kit, I am contemplating the full PE set but havent decided how much surgury I really want to do. I know the kit is missing a set of weapons pylons, two mikes makes a set for 1/48 but not 1/72. Really just curious as to what is out there but since google has trouble picking up anything for the RG Typhoon other then places to buy it I am kinda at a loss.

For those who would like an example of the difference in my work when there is AM detail involved.

With

Without

Now I have my tornado that I am doing OOB for my relaxation and I have the Typhoon to feed the super detailer in me. Its my perfect plan to keep from burning out on the detail or getting board with the OOB, also it will be an interesting test to see what turns out better a relaxed OOB build or a full out attempt for perfection. Both will be in Luftwaffe colors

As always, thank you in advance for all your help.

TLP

Progress shots to come, as soon as I can figure out the seats..

TLP, hello again. I know thier instructions can be a pain, and I really dont have a clue about the part your working with, but maybe you can cut a pattern out of paper and play with that. You know, bend and rebend till you can figure it out. Just a thought. BTW, I never get tired of seeing your Spit or P-40!...........Harv

TLP, here's a resin set from Pavla for the Typhoon single-seater, with vac canopy, which may be of interest:

Hi there,
I've got the Revell 2 seater 1/72 in the cupboard.
Is this the PE you have ??
>SS 289
>
Or do you have,
>73 289
>
Which 2 pieces are you refering too ?
Maybe this will help others see what you are after ?
Hope this will help.
All the best,
Mick C.

Dirtball: Excellent idea, I may give that a shot. I never get tired of the looking at the spit, especially since once completed I gave it away and dont have a way to see it other then the few pictures I have. Boohoo [BH] That P-40 though has been sitting on top of my computer at work for a couple years now, and with all the time I have listening to people scream at me about things on escalated claims I have picked that thing apart by the flaws and could really take it or leave it at this point.

Chris: Thanks for that, looks pretty sweet though between the PE and scratchbuilding I think the pit is covered but the seam on the stock canopy may warrant me getting a vac one, thank you

Viper: While both those sheets are sort of close neither have the main part I am curious about which is

I think I am going to use dirtball's suggestion since it doesnt seem anyone who has built this kit with this detail set is online at FS or...the other site. I have a pretty good idea how to go about it i was just hoping to see it completed before I started bending away

TLP - if you want, you can buy the canopy separately:

(they also do one for the 2-seater).

Cheers,

Chris.
