I'm thinkin' the first few photos just got a little washed out with all the light coming off the white surface.  The later photos look great.  Very nice job on the engines

Thanks so much guys, for your kind comments and compliments! Too bad that the first few photos look a little washed out. As for the build, I think the whitewash is about right, i.e., not too clean and not too dirty. If you look at the Fairey Swordfish MkI built by the same modeler, you'll see that it's much dirtier than this one. The Gloster Meteor has a reason not to be that dirty. According to the instruction sheets, "The first four Meteors delievered to the European front were painted white over standard camouflage scheme to prevent misidentification with German Me-262." They were probably painted white not long before entering the war, maybe just a few days, so there's no time to get dirty. And if you look closely you may see the original colors under white. ;-)

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] Taz did a great job, and it´s not easy deal with white schemes...

To bad Tamiya didn´t take the Meteor kits to latest models, I like this plane, but I like to build the F.4 version (in Argentinian colours) and every time I have to make complicated conversions using resin parts....

best regards

Really Jeremias, you built it in Argentinian colours? LOL.

Another great kit for your collection Maniac. Taz did a cracker on this one. The decals might be a little harsh but hey, still looks good to me.

Great job on the meteor... I'm going to build a later model one in 1/72 and I can only hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

Many thanks for more compliments since my last reply!

Jeremias, another one with white schemes is coming from Tazmanian. A big one, Tu-160 1:72.

Luftwoller, I just can't agree more. It's a nice addition to my collection.

-Neu-, you have one disadvantage. Smaller scale usually comes with less details. What color do you plan to paint yours?

Scale isn't the problem... I find I can squeeze in the detail I want in 1/72. I'm just a terrible painter and I doubt my finished product will come close to yours in skill.

Mine is a MPM RAAF F8 from the Korean War, so its going to be a bare metal finish.

-Neu- - Yes, you can add details like PE upgrade set (I hope they're available). Don't forget to post here when yours is finished.

Jeremias - I think you're right. It's so big that I have no display case big enough to host it. I plan to hang it from the ceiling of my showroom. Tu-160 will be available later. Lately Tazmanian has been building ships & submarines. In a few days I'll present an all ship page, showing 1 missile corvette and 6 submarines. Are you interested in ships too?
