Finished build Lippisch P.13a (pics)
Posted by Borg R3-MC0 on Monday, November 23, 2009 1:08 PM

Here are some pics of my Lippisch P.13a, it is the 1/48 Revell reedition of the Mauve kit. The kit is easy and goes together quickly. I used the kit decals (incl the seatbelts, but I "beefed them up" with aluminum foil). I had some severe silvering problems with the decals. I tried every trick in the book but I could not get the Balkenkreuzen to settle properly. Other then that I am pleased with the build, this is the third time that I did motteling, I like the way it turned out.

Comments, questions and critiques are welcome.

Man, that is awesome! The family resemblance to the Douglas Skyray is obvious. You've done great, I really like the paint job too.

Youve every reason to be proud of that one. Shes a stunner and a great subject to boot. Mottling came out like a pro. Nice job.

Looks good from here.  The mottle came out very well.  Thanks for sharing.

Great job on a funny looking beast! Thumbs Up [tup] Looks like a nice little kit.

Amazing that thing could fly. (They tested a glider version, correct?)

Oh... I almost forgot... you mottle like a pro!

They indeed tested a glider version. The final version was to be powered by a coal fuelled ram jet.

This design was also a inspiration for the XP-92 and XF-92.

Thanks for all the positive comments on the motteling. I am happy with the way it turned out but I also noticed that I was reaching the limits of my airbrush (a Badger 200 with a medium head). I think I need another airbrush to achieve these kind of result in a smaller scale (like 1/72)

Excellent work on this model, love the paintwork!  These Luft '46 aircraft are always interesting to see.  Thanks for sharing!
